"Don't look at me like that," Sai’a had stated to Valhorek. The healer simply smiled, and realized the importance of what she considered he own valued opinion, and she could possibly be right. In fact all of them could possibly be right, and possibly be wrong at the same time. No one had any idea of this man named Odin, and what his true inner reasoning for finding them, and coercing them into helping him. They could not possibly know the outcome, but one thing nagged at the back of Val’s mind, and that was Tamy. Somehow, the young girl seemed to believe, truly believe, that Odin was actually here to help them. Again, though, the man could have possibly placed a spell on the young girl making her believe that he was there to help. There were too many possibilities, and that in itself didn’t sit right with the healer.
He turned back to Sai’a once again. “I understand your concerns very much,” the healer answered. “And I certainly respect your own views on the situation, but unfortunately we know nothing about the man, and personally I’d rather have the enemy within our midst where we can keep track of him rather than leaving him to his own devices, and possibly following us where we go.”
The thought seemed well intentioned but again, Valhorek couldn’t be certain. None of them could.
“Yes,” Val stated. “I really think that of you, and yes, I do have all the patience in the world when it comes to you.” He wondered what impact, if any, his words would have on the young woman for he had been quite enamored by her wit, beauty, and personality. “I have all the time in the world to tend to you,” Val continued. “I only hope that eventually we can become more than just friends.
He kissed her again, this time on the lips, as he remembered their sole kiss during the Rover’s party. It almost seemed that this time was awkward and yet totally different. He wanted to insure to Sai’a that what he spoke was the truth, and that he had no misconceptions about how he treasured her company. He finally broke the kiss wishing that they were somewhere other than here so that he could spend a good amount of time with her. Unfortunately that was not to be. “I will do my best to make sure nothing happens to any of us, especially you. The lives of my friends is very important to me. One way or another we’ll see this through.”
He finally stood up, and extended his hand to Sai’a. “I suggest we get back and join the others before they get the wrong idea.” Once the redheaded fighter gathered her instruments, he helped her up, and they returned to the camp.
**************************
Rhngeylor had spent most of the time thinking about their current situation, and no matter how he viewed different scenarios; he wasn’t happy one way or the other. He had watched as Josen and Odin rode out together, and could only hope that the fighter could gather some pieces of the puzzle that might help them learn or understand more of the stranger that wanted their help. After all, hadn’t he been to one to track them down? If that were the case he could easily have avoided them and simply continued to follow them unseen if he so had the desire. So why them other than the mini-quests that each had to follow?
Sai’a and Val had gone to a different area away from the main campsite. He knew enough about the healer that privacy was an important matter at the moment, especially after the redhead’s outburst as to what they should or shouldn’t do.
During this time, Torbin wound up talking to Tamy, and now the four of them, Torbin, himself, Dase, and Tamy were sitting at the campfire just as Sai’a and Val returned. It seemed the woman was a bit more relaxed but it was difficult to judge.
“Yes,” Rhngeylor stated to Dase. “Just what is Airy, and is there anything we need to fear from him or her?”
He glanced at Torbin briefly. How ironic that he would wind up talking to the healer at the Rover’s party only to find out about her stone, and the so-called magic that his own medallion possessed, something he knew nothing about. A medallion he had presumed to be simply an icon of a long lost mentor. A medallion with a triangle in the center of a circle, and yet something that was triggered by Torbin’s stone. It was too ironic, and possibly too coincidental.
The youth took a moment to respond, and Rhn took that opportunity to speak to Torbin. “The two of us,” he began. “At least when it comes to your stone and my medallion, will have to do as much as possible to gather as much information that we can regarding the two. In a way I believe the stone is connected with Tamy somehow, but I can’t for the life of me even begin to think of as to why.”
It had been very unusual, and for Torbin, it had caused a bit of trepidation in what was a simple daily lifestyle for her. Now, somehow it had created a sort of bond with him via the medallion, and he hoped that the two of them could weather out this unusual mystery. Perhaps Tamy was the key to it all, and they simply hadn’t asked the correct question of the girl.
For all of his life Rhngeylor had always been a loner, especially since his trade of being a ranger usually forced him to be away from groups, scouting out areas in front of them. And, he usually managed to rely on his own skills and abilities. Now it was important that he listen to everything that concerned not only him and Torbin, but the others as well. It seemed that everyone, especially Dase and Tamy, had an integral part in the scheme of things.
He spoke to Torbin once more just as Dase was about to begin speaking. “If you think of anything, let me know, and in turn I will do so likewise.”
Rhn even smiled a bit at the young healer. For once he wasn’t alone, and couldn’t act alone. Both would have to rely on the other, as well as the others in the group.
