Damn, but Valhorek enjoyed being next to this wondrous redhead who insisted on keeping her feelings to herself. He would have to work harder to allow herself to open up a bit in front of him, and possibly in front of the others. He smiled at her statement of “easing her embarrassment” considering he hadn’t done anything of the sort, although she seemed to believe he had. Sai’a had a long, well may not that long, way to go, and he was willing to help her gather a mutual understanding of each other.

But for now he watched as Tamy and Dase somehow joined…forces with each other? It was an unusual spectacle for it seemed that Tamy was somehow in control, but control of what? That was the question at the moment as it seemed that the two youngsters were trying to ascertain just exactly what each knew or didn’t know about the other, not to mention the mysterious third party of the creature known as Airy.

But it was Sai’a’s nod towards Rhngeylor that drew his attention. Even now the ranger was staring at his medallion that had started to pulse with an odd color. He recalled the ranger’s story of how the medallion had interacted with that of Torbin, but upon looking at the female healer, Val noticed that as she pulled out her stone, it remained…..lifeless.

Val turned to Sai’a. “I didn’t think you embarrassed at all,” Val stated with a smirk that rewarded him with a slight nudge in the side. “In fact I’ll have to practice harder.”

But now matters had shifted from the adults to the youngsters, and it appeared that there was more to the meeting of Dase and Tamy than met the eye. The spider’s web was getting more intricate as time passed and they had yet to make a move. All of this had started in Bizmar with a brawl amongst the merchants, only to be continued with a fight with some strangers who insisted that Tamy was theirs, the meeting up with Odin, and now the strange powers that the two youngsters exhibited. Exhibited? It was a strange word especially since Valhorek had no idea of what was transpiring, but it seemed that both Tamy and Dase had every idea covered…or so it seemed.

“Perhaps it’s not us that were intended for the fight,” Valhorek stated quite sullenly. “Maybe our entanglement in matters is merely to provide protection for them.” His face nodded in the direction of Tamy and Dase.

******************

Rhngeylor was still puzzled at the sudden reaction of his medallion. Torbin looked at him, and removed her own stone. He was certain that it would react accordingly, but….nothing, and that made matters even more disheartening. How was he supposed to understand something he had no knowledge of? How could he possibly begin to realize what any of this meant, let alone what his part in the scheme of things was supposed to be? At first he presumed that the link, if in fact there were a link, was with Torbin and her own stone, and yet now as she placed the stone around her neck, it remained as inanimate as any other object he had witnessed.

Beware of things that crawl in the night and see with eyes of red slightly gilted, those of which do not resemble animal.

The words were cryptic at best, and only Ratal could possibly understand their meaning. Ratal, his mentor, the man that left behind the medallion for him, to be given to him one dark evening by Marka who quickly rushed him off to the next ship leaving the island without any trace of understanding to his parents wish to have him depart, and depart quickly.

And yet all this time he remained resolute to his trade, that being a ranger, learning his craft as best as possible. Traveling the various lands, and learning everything there was to know about them. Pursuing his knowledge of plant life, herb lore, archery, animals, and anything else associated with being a ranger.

Only to come to the realization that suddenly he felt utterly alone with no idea which direction to head to achieve his goal of finding some sort of answer. It was bad enough to realize that Ratal was probably dead, or so his parents thought. Finding out that after many, many years, his medallion suddenly acquired a life of its own, and dragging its owners own life to culminate with the life of one female healer by the name of Torbin. Pieces. All pieces to some sort of very large puzzle, that only the gods could possibly understand, and yet here he was with friends and companions, suddenly very alone.

And that’s when he suddenly witnessed what was in front of him. Not Dase, not Tamy, but an unusual creature he had never seen before. He could ascertain that it was a female but other than that nothing else, and yet as he looked around the others seemed to not take notice. He looked at Torbin questioningly but it seemed the woman was still watching the exchange between the two youngsters. He turned to Val and Sai’a and witnessed the same. He turned back to Tamy and Dase, and instead of seeing just one boy and one girl; he witnessed one boy, one girl, and a female creature. A female creature that looked extremely lovely and extremely ethereal, and yet the ranger was struck with awe at the elemental’s beauty. It was an elemental was it not? He was unsure, and he had to turn to Torbin for help, for guidance, for something, for now he was in a situation he totally didn’t comprehend.

“I can see her,” Rhn stated with a whisper. “I can see her. I don’t know how, but I can see her.”
