Alex saw Rowan join them and was a bit startled when Rowan responded to his questions instead of Jeremy or Kato. He listened quietly realizing about half way through his comments what Rowan was trying to do. Alex understood all Rowan said. Some of it was reasonable but some of it Alex would have chosen to handle differently had he been with the company when they’d accepted this venture. He was about to respond when Jeremy spoke up explaining a bit more. Alex looked at him and listened quietly. His eyebrows rose slightly at the mentioning of Latisha being friends with a necromancer. Then Soran added his comments on the matter and Alex listened to him as well
When everyone was finished speaking Alex quietly considered everything while he finished eating. He realized his concerns about the trip had increased a little instead of diminished. But he could see the sense in Soran’s comment that it was safer to travel in a group rather than alone and in his suggestion to wait on his decision until they reached Annib.
Without another word and pondering everything that had been said, he rose and went to his tent where he proceeded to take it down and pack it along with everything else on Shadow’s back. When everyone else was ready to leave, Alex joined them saying he would continue on to Annib and think about things more during the trip there. He was deep in thought and didn’t say much. When Jeremy started “singing”. Alex jumped then grimaced as his sensitive ears picked up more of the sounds then the human ones might. When Soran asked Jeremy to tone his singing down Alex sighed in relief.
“Thank you Soran, Jeremy.”
Alex was quiet for most of the trip to Annib, thinking and listening, only responding or making brief comments when he felt it was needed. When they reached the city and he heard the guard’s comments emited a soft gasp thinking a flogging and then imprisionment a bit harsh. He took the warnings to heart and kept his attention on the city as they entered and proceeded to look for a tavern to stay at.
He saw how Jeremy looked at the scantily clad women but realized the youth was of age even though just barely so. While Jeremy paid for rooms Alex led Shadow to the stable and took care of him. Then he joined his companion as they headed for the shopping district. Alex looked around observing the various people not liking the looks of some.
He saw a magic shop next to the apothecary shop and smiled. He was was heading toward it when Soran left the group, diverting his attention from the shop. Wondering why Soran had left the group, Alex paused and watched him move to a fountain and reach in the water for something. As he withdrew his hand something glinted in the fading sunlight for a moment before Soran wrapped his shirt around it. Then he heard the guard cry out. “What the...”
Alex started toward the guard thinking to explain the situation but one of the other guards who was rushing toward Soran pushed his aside. At the unexpected shove, Alex nearly lost his balance. As he strove to stay on his feet he caught a glimpse of Soran running away from them. By the time he regained his balance Soran was nearly out of sight and he caught a glimpse of Rowan and the unsavory looking bunch, which left him with a bad feeling, running after the guards who were running after Soran. It wouldn’t be good to loose Soran or Rowan in this city. He looked around but didn’t see the others right off. He could go find them or he could follow. He chose to follow Soran, Rowan and their pursuers. As he moved he reached into his pack and withdrew and opened a small pouch containing an enchanted powder, black in color. He dropped some of on the ground near his feet. It would remain where it landed and not be dislodged, blown away or dispersed by rain or water no matter what took place until he cancelled the enchantment. He was not the best tracker in a city setting and the powder would help him find his way back to the tavern. Next he cast an invisibility spell to conceal himself, his clothing and what he was carrying. He tried to take note of where he was going while also keeping the gang members and guards in sight. His intention was to follow not to try and catch up to Soran and Rowan. If Rowan was able to find Soran but things turned bad for them hopefully he would know and be able to go get the others to help them. The one draw back was that he would only be able to sustain the invisibility spell for two hours max and that would be pushing it. If he felt the need to sustain it that long it would leave him tired.
