Once they arrived inside the rundown house, Kato took a seat after heating up some java. He had to wonder just who was in charge considering that the boy now girl named Weave seemed to take over matters whether directly related to her or not.
He suddenly understood why Xue had asked the question originally to Huck as to why he dressed funny. Perhaps Xue had some inner instinct that told her this youth was a girl. Regardless, he listened into the whole conversation of what was transpiring, and realized that Weave held the upper hand. Eventually Rowan realized that his trust in the girl was necessary in order to clear Soran of any related crimes.
Eremis seemed in his own world as he performed miracles related to the art of healing on Alex, and anyone else that needed his assistance. The young healer performed methodically, missing nothing, and patching up Alex who had been severely injured.
Once everything was established as to who was going to do what, he was quickly informed that his services might be needed for a masquerade ball that was to be had the following evening, courtesy of young Weave. Due to her initial hesitancy, he had to agree that trying to trust complete strangers was difficult in itself. Neither she, nor themselves, could possibly trust each other, and therefore had to go with gut instinct in order to get anything done. Weave was true to her word as Soran was relieved of his crimes, and capable of traveling the streets once again. The woman was quite resourceful, and he couldn’t help but admire her talents, especially with a group of people she knew nothing of. Kato was sure that if the opportunity for a double-cross presented itself to the young woman, she would be more than capable of handling her self in that situation as well.
The group was informed that a friend of Alex would be coming by to take him away. Perhaps Alex simply needed to get away for a while, or simply came to the conclusion he didn’t prefer the adventuring life. Hell, even at the beginning, Kato realized that it was no easy task to sleep out in the open almost all the time, travel foreign lands, fight ridiculous monsters, get injured, heal, and continue onward all the time.
Soran went out with Rowan, soon to be followed by Cas. Jeremy had joined them, and Xue was watching him with a fixed eye. Kato wasn’t sure why, but he would ask her once it was his turn to relieve her of guard duty. He was going to question her about the guard duty at first but then decided against it. When everyone settled in, he also fell asleep. After several hours he awoke to find Jeremy sleeping hunched over the table, Eremis on the couch, Alex resting comfortably in the bed, Rowan in another chair, Weave by a corner of the room, and Xue keeping an ever-watchful eye.
He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, and as quietly as possible, brewed up some java. Once he had the beverage in his hands he took a seat next to the shifter. “So tell me Xue,” Kato asked in hushed tones. “Why do you have your eye on Jeremy? Is there something wrong?”
