Alex was happy that Jeremy was pleased with his gift and hoped he would practice and learn archery. He listened quietly as Jeremy said goodbye. When Jeremy placed his hand on Alex’s shoulder Alex placed his over Jeremy’s and gave it a gentle squeeze just before he removed it.
“Jeremy I-I umm I do hope to see you again someday. Please be careful. I wouldn’t want any harm to come to you.”
With a sad expression on his face, Alex watched Jeremy turn and head for the door. Just before Jeremy left the room he called out. “Good bye, Jeremy. I’ll miss you and I wish you well.”
After Jeremy left the room Alex asked Eremis if Soran was still there. Eremis told him Soran and Cas had returned to the Inn. Alex thanked him and then stated he would be going to the inn to get Shadow then he and Quinn would teleport home.
“Thank you for everything, Eremis. You take care and I wish you good luck with your studies, your travels and your relationships. Please tell the others the same thing for me. Perhaps we will meet again and be able to get better acquainted.”
With that Alex tossed the blanket aside, looked at Quinn and nodded. Quinn picked up both his and Alex’s pack then lifted Alex off the bed holding him close in a protective manner. He concentrated on Shadow and a few moments later both vanished to reappear a short time later in the stable near Shadow. Quinn set Alex down and Alex leaned on Quinn for support.
“Quinn, I wish to give Soran a gift and let him know I’ve going home. And I’ll need to teleport Jeremy’s bow and quiver of arrows into his room. Please help me into the Inn.”
With Quinn supporting him, they entered the Inn where Alex inquired which rooms Soran and Jeremy were in. The inn keeper told him and Quinn helped him to Soran’s room first. Alex removed an intricate bracelet from his pack then knocked on the door and waited. Soran opened it a few moments later.
“Soran, this is my friend Quinn. I won’t be continuing with you to Dara. Quinn will be teleporting me home shortly. I wanted to give you this before we left.” He held out the intricately designed braclet which contained a few gemstones here and there. “I made that to sell but want you to have it instead. Please take care, Soran. I wish you luck with everything and would like to see you again if at all possible. I must bid you farewell now.”
And with that Alex turned and started down the hallway toward Jeremy’s room. Reaching it he he asked Quinn to teleport Jeremy’s bow and arrows inside his room which Quinn did. Quinn then helped Alex back out to the stable where a sudden and unexpected wave of dizziness accompanied by some pain assailed Alex. “Ohh Quinn!” He leaned very heavily on his friend emitting a few soft gasps and moans then stated. “I do believe it’s time to go home now and rest.”
“Oh most definately. Let’s hope you didn’t overdo just now.”
Quinn swept Alex up in his arms again then placed a hand on Shadow and concentrated. All three vanished to reappear a few minutes later infront of Alexander’s home. Alexander’s father dropped the wood he’d been carrying to the house and rushed to them asking what had happened. Quinn told him what he knew as he carried Alex inside and to his room where he lay him down. Both noticed that Alexander’s eyes were closed. “I’ll go get a healer.”
Alexander’s father nodded and bent over Alex who moaned then opened his eyes. “Father. I’ve come back earlier than expected. I’ve been tended to by a healer and should be ok. I’m just tired is all and need to rest. I’ll explain everything later. I didn’t mean...to alarm...you.”
His father placed a comforting hand on Alex’s arm and smiled. “I’m just glad to see you alive, son. Quinn went to get a healer. You rest I can wait for an explanation.”
Quinn returned with a healer in tow who quickly set about examining Alex and finding his wounds had been well taken care of. The healer stated that Alex was to rest as much as possible for the next few days and that he’d be round to check on him on a regular basis. He left. Quinn and Alexander’s father left Alex’s room and his father closed the door. They headed for the kitchen to fix a meal.
In his own room where he was much more comfortable and didn’t have to worry about troubles or being disturbed, Alex felt safe, comfortable and cared for. The thought that entered his mind just before he drifted off into a deep sleep was whether or not he’d see his new friends again. Since he didn’t know for sure he decided to just live his life as it came and if he did see them again he’d try to stay around them longer the next time so he could get much better acquainted.
OCC: Ravin, I’ve enjoyed writing with you and the others as well. If I should come back on line later I’ll bring Alex back into the storyline but as things are looking right now I may be not be returning after all. I wish you and the rest success with your world and your writing. All of you please take care. I wish you all well. |
