todd, why would you mind scooping out a litter box in the privacy of your own home and not mind picking up dog poop and carrying it around in public? i actually bought my cat in a pet store and i would never do it again. no horror stories, he is the most wonderful thing in the world, i just know it isn't right. and when i see all the cats up for adoption it breaks my heart. if you do get a younger cat, the most important thing is to shape their personality early. handling them alot and such. i can do anything to my cat and he loves it! and if he doesn't, he lets me know, usually by biting me. also, i just started using Feline Pine in my litter box. this stuff is great! the litter box doesn't smell at all (i also have a small place). and last, only guys have issues with single guys with cats. women will see it as "sensitive" since most guys claim to hate cats. i walk my cat on a leash and harnass and people always want to come see him. he also fetches and comes when called. it's almost like having a dog.
