Todd, I totally agree. Bunnies are the best! Some bunnies might aggravate a cat allergy, but you will be totally safe with a Rex or Mini-Rex. Like Bichon Frise or Poodles, they are the "shedless" variety of rabbit. They do shed, but a lot less, as they don't have the long guard hairs. Plus, they are super soft!
We have two litterbox trained rabbits and they are such a joy! They have the independence of cats without the farting and throwing up! They have less accidents than dogs and cats, and their poops are totally inoffensive.
The humping that another respondent noted is present when a bunny is not spayed or neutered. Boys can be neutered at three months and girls can be spayed at six months. They become much more healthy and fun than if they are unfixed.
I have several friends living in NYC with rabbits in their apartments. The cool thing is that lots of landlords think bunnies are in cages, so they allow them when they don't allow cats or dogs--yet you can have the bunny running free!
