does anyone who has hade a big bird know wu is the best type od big bird to get? Because i resently hade my parakeet die and my parents promised me they would get me any ty[pe of bird i wanted and i wanted to get a bird with a large life span and is a friendly bird wont peak at you if you come neer it. So if you can tell me a good bird to get please respond!

Don't get a big bird unless you have a big cage or are willing to let it fly around in your house, with the associated poop problem. Big birds like to fly.

ummm..... thats not wut i herd about them from the lady at my local pet store she said that with the big birds it's not that they need to fly alot its that they need to be handeled alot. they need a big cage and that the big birds usually do make bigger messes

I have two big birds. A citron cockatoo and an african grey parrot. The cockatoo (Mickey) is a bitch. She wont really bite but needs alot of attention. you can take her out of the cage and hold her or let her play on her bird perch. when she is board she has a really shrill screeching that she does and this is very annoying. The parrot is really cool and learns alot of noises that she hears around the house(microwave, telephone ect.) she is sweet but we can not take her out of the cage. she is nervous and is content to stay in her own cage. Im sure not all parrots will be skittish. Both will live for about 50 years.
