Hey everybody I thought that I'd start another one. So whats new with everyone? I haven't done much shooting lately. I really don't like shooting my air guns in the winter because they sometimes rust from moisture. I can't wait till spring I want to shoot both my Diana 24 air rifles. They have just been sitting in my gun case twiddling their thumbs.lol. I'm too scared to use them because I always have this fear that when it is cold out the piston seal will get cold and when it hits the end of the compression chamber it will break. I know it sounds stupid but hey it could happen. In fact I don't even use any of my old leather sealed airguns in the winter for fear of rust. I need to find a real crappy air rifle where I don't care what happens to it.
Hey Guys
Makeing a Wanted Dead or Alive pop rifle.Took a NO 1938 and cut the barrel and stock down, got it down to 19 3/8 ".The lever looks rough but that is just the camera. The lever is made of wood. The real one will be made of alum as soon as I get the material. After I make the real lever I am going to paint it up and maybe put in brass screws

Cool looking pop gun. I was actually tempted to try that with one of the new Red Ryders.
If you are still working on it have you considered going to a straight grip?
Please post more pictures as the work goes on.

I haven't been able to do much work to my car lately it's been so cold. It is starting to warm up and I have march break all next week so maybe I can work on it. My goal to be driving it in the summer will not be met because it is a lot more work than I thought it would be.lol.
I would still be interested in seeing the straight grip.
OR what about an 1894's trimmed down?
I am not sure how you could close up the stock on one of the old plastic stocked guns. The newer wood ones might be easier.
Would it even be possible to shorten the barrel that much on an 1894 and still have a working gun?

Hey KD can you post a pic of your 65" Impala all in peices? I'd like to see it. Hey Stevec nice rifle. I think that if the aluminum cocking lever and hammer were the same color as the rifle it would look cool. But other than that it looks great.
I've been busy with work. I can't figure how to delete all the pics in the camera,it says its full. I've been wanting to get those pics of my old Impala to you. Did you get a chance to work on yours during spring break?KD

I actually didn't touch my car over the break. I bought a Buick 455 engine for it since I will be turning it in to a GS it needs a 455. The engine in there right now I found out is an oldsmobile 350 rocket. I thought at first it was an olds 455 but I was wrong after I checked the numbers. I have been slowly rebuilding the 455 I bought. I worked a little on my car last weekend. If it is sunny this weekend that is what I will be doing. The 455 can wait for a rainy day.

C'mon guys. you all can't be that busy. I'm dying to chat with some of ya.
They are a good engine, unless you really want the extra horses from the 455.
It has been quite few years since I have had a V-8 in my personal car, the last 3 have been V-6's.
My first two were Chevy straight 6's a '63 and a '67.

The 350 in my car is in pretty good shape. We had it running the day I got the car and it sounded pretty healthy. I could probably get a good $500.00 for it when I take it out to put the 455 in. I may even just keep the 350 in it and drive the car the way it is for the summer.
My Dad bought it for me after I graduated from high school-$65.
Put a pair of big red wall tires from Tractor Supply on the back and dark centered mags on the front.
Removed the inside headlights and covered the holes with screen wire.
Removed the front 'splash guard' under the bumper and added hood pins.
Used some parts lying around to run the exhaust to the drivers side behind the front wheel and into a pipe under the rocker panel-no muffler.
Not sure why I was never stopped for it.
If your 350 runs good I would be tempted to use it and concentrate on the rest of the car, unless you want the cash from selling it to help pay the way.
Rebuild the 455 when everything else is done.
But it is YOUR car and if you want the full GS effect..............

We had the car running today and man is that 350 powerful. I didn't drive the car but just sitting there and reving the engine oh man is that thing powerful. Could probably lay about 50 feet of rubber with that 350 rocket. I think I will keep it in there for the time being. The 455 is going to take a while anyway. I was also just given a Chevy 350 for free from someone that needs rebuilding. I will be busy with that as well.

Consider this

Hey RM
You might want to think about resale of the car later.Seems that there is more money for a car that is deemed original then one that has had alot of make overs.Cars that were made to look like something other then what they were from the factory are called clones. If you are building a hot rod then this should not be a concern.Just give it some thought about when it comes time to sell it.I like a car as close to when it left the factory as you can get it.It is sorta like seeing history.Like old bb guns.Look at old cars and think, man,at one time that thing was brand new and made someone very excited when they brought it new.

I understand what you are saying an I will give it some thought. It would be cool to have an almost all original car.

Howdy y,all I have not been here in a long time.
RM I see you have gotten a car. I thought I would mention to you to study on the other changes you would have to make to go with a 455. Radiator, transmission, suspension, brakes, exhaust etc.
This stuff adds up quickly. I just went thru this on a 66 Ford truck.
I understand the draw of a big block had a few in my younger years
but gas was quite a bit less then. Tires were cheaper also LOL
Anyway good luck to you on your project.

Thanks for the heads up. I did find out that the transmission will match up but yes everything else must be changed. There will be a lot of money spent on this car by the time it's done. I hope to have it on the road this summer.
Although the username you are using now is new I know who you are. so welcome back it's been a while since we heard from you.
The screen names the same as it was I only made a post or two here. Used to hang around the Dianawerk forum some as Shredderup though.
I believe a new screen name is needed now. Shredderup was our old house cats name. I would use our new cats name but I call her Stinky.
I'm going by Taterious now.

Thats weird because I actually thought that were someone else. My mistake. I thought you were Hotshot the guy who started shooting the bull. We haven't heard from him in about 2 years now. Well anyhow glad to have someone else on shooting the bull.
