I used to have an older Daisy model 220. It was out of an entire series of the following models i.e. 160, 230, & 250. It was a single shot, break down and load type of air rifle and would shot .177 cal pellets and BBs both. I just found the old owner's manual for it today and I've wanted to get another one of these models for years. I remember how wonderfully acurated it was and how much fun I had frog hunting with it. What do any of you Forum members know about that model? Also can any of you tell me when that model was discontinued? I would appreciate any info you guys/gals could give me. JD

Scottish Daisys

September 6 2007, 9:05 PM

This series of barrel-cockers was made in Scotland (60's - 70's as I recall) by Millard Bros. and are really Milbro "Diana" guns stamped with the Daisy brand...thus if you find a British "Diana" Mdl 22 it will be the same as your Daisy 220. Keep an eye on Gunbroker.com also, sometimes such things show up.

Thanks for the info

September 6 2007, 10:28 PM

Hey Thanks DonR and Bavaria55: I appreciate the information. I am astounded that this particular model still shows up from time to time. Like I said in my opening post that gun was very accurate for an air rifle. I used to kill frogs, snakes, sometimes I would catch a quail running on the ground. Let me tell you that I had some extremely fond childhood memories with that Daisy model 220. Say guys how would the 2 of you rate that gun quality wise. Now I'm sure as knowledgable as you guys are that you all probably have air rifles that would put that old one of mine to shame but how would you rate it for it's price range and for the era of the 60s/70s? Thanks guys I really appreciate your help. JD

Daisy 220

Made in Scotland by Milbro along with the other models you mentioned
220=1964-1970-.177
225=1971-1974-.177
230=1965-1974-22cal.
250=1965-1974-22cal.
They were made on machinery given to England as war reparations after WW11.I owned a mod.250 at one time and it was a nice air rifle.

Quality comparison??

September 19 2007, 12:43 PM

Guys/gals I'm obviously new here. But I have kind of rekindled my interest in Air Rifles. How do you all rank this model 220 and this entire Milbro series in comparison to the Air Rifles that are available now a days? Maybe on a 1 to 10 scale would it at least rank a 7 or better? And about how often do these model 220 come up for auction? I like single shot guns period and the one thing I really loved about that gun was that you could shoot BBs and .177 Cal Pellets both.
