Daisy 22 rifle

Daisy made a 22 rifle called the legacy. It fires 22 cal longs and shorts but recommended to shoot longs.

Daisy 22

February 17 2008, 12:08 PM

You mentioned its an air rifle.Daisy made a number of 22cal. air rifles[including their 22cal. firearms, and also the VL]They also made and still make 22cal.spring and pneumatic airguns.Look carefully at the gun to see if there is any info.model no./,where made?,also a picture would be nice to help identify what you have.

VL Daisy 22

February 27 2008, 9:41 AM

For all you persons wondering about the Daisy VL. It is a very remarkable rifle. I have two, one wooden stock, one plastic stock, and have been using them for some years. It is a very powerful air rifle, and great for small game in the woods. It does not need much cleaning as it is kept that way by the firering of the Cassless 22 cal. bullet. They are getting hard to come by, and for sure will be a collector to come. I would suggest obtaining if can be found for sale, as it is one of a kind. Dixie sage

Post a Picture.

A pic. would really be nice to help determine what you have. You say it is an airgun.I believe the only gun Daisy had a conflict selling was the Legacy bolt action 22 rim fire and i'm not really sure on that. The VL posed a problem because of the ammo used and was later classified as a firearm. Post a pic.it sure would help or a the very least check the receiver or barrel for more info.

Daisy VL Caseless 22 cal. Rifle

Person who has one of these wishing to sell. You must go through a Licenced Gun dealer, as the rifle has been classifed as a firearm, not an air-rifle. I would hole on to it, as prices are going up every year on them. Dixie

VL

Prices on the VL have been going up but there's still a lot of them out there, especially the plastic stocked version. These guns can also be used with a pellet instead of the special ammo, unfortunately the bores on the VL were made to 22cal. rimfire standards as such it is over bored for just about all the pellets available so you will have to look hard to find a pellet that will work.As I wrote in my last article they are now considered a firearm, with slow sales and having the VL likely being considered a firearm set in motion the demise of the VL

Re: Daisey .22 rifle (?)

EJ Wills : The pellets of standard size will not work in the VL, however, there are two company's now that make pellets for the VL since ammo was getting hard to obtain. Also wrong. there is a company in Canada that has the same type rifle, that uses the cassless 22 cal ammo, it ofcorse is a firearm, not a pellet rifle. The shells are at present quite high, however, surely will go down with demand of such. I was luckly enough to get a hold of some 10,000 rounds off the PC before the mad rush of everyone wanting them. Both large gun dealers here have a couple Vl's for sale, they run from 295- to 325, ofcorse in excellent condition. I have a wooden stock one myself, which I haven't seen any as yet for sale, or advertized as such. My plastic stock one is the one i shoot quite offen for squirel's and rabbits. I am a collector, of over 29 years, and have a great deal of old rifles, not only firearms, but BB guns and Pellet. Best wishs. Dixie LA

I didn't say you can not find pelets to fit a VL I said you would be hard pressed to do.MOST pellets will fall through the bore, and yes if you look hard enough you will probably find some to fit.And I stand by my statement that because of poor sales and the writing on the wall with regards to the VL being classified as a firearm weighed heavy on Daisy to stop the production of the VL.I was also speaking of the Daisy co. not of any thing made in Canada.

Daisy V L

March 26 2008, 11:18 PM

It was called the daisy V L. I had one when i was a kid.It had a chemical charged 22 cal bullet. It had the same shape as a 22 cal slug but it had a small yellow charge behind it.

The only reason i think it was discontinued was the gov had a problem with the range. It said right on the ammo package ( range one mile )!!! It was much more powerfull than any air rifle. They just did not know how to classify it. It did not use air and it had the range of your modern powder rifels.

I had a ball with this gun!!! But it was not long after and it would not fire anylonger. When i sent off for parts they told me the gun had been dicontinued and no parts were available. We killed fox and rabbits and coons with it with no problems.
