Well here's another one. It's getting warm here now and all the Robins and Blackbirds are starting to come so that means spring is just around the corner. Maybe with a couple more snow falls that is.lol.

So what are all you guys up to?

Thanks.

I been sighting in

March 17 2008, 9:09 AM

and buying more pellets. But think I have came up with the ultimate bird gun.
Stumbled across this old LARC M19-A Machine BB Gun.
I'm still in search of the original fitting that connects it to a freon tank.I will use compressed air tanks for boat horns or cleaning computers to shoot it.At 3000 bb's a minuet I think it will be a HOOT to shoot.
Fill up the bird feeder and wait!! LOL

Shoot often and Safe!!

Looks like a fun little gun to shoot. I have heard quite a few good things about those airguns.

You will find that the new freon tanks do not fit on the original fitting, the internationally accepted design of the can was changed years ago. I have hooked mine to a DeWalt compressor, and with a 50' 1/4" airhose, I can wander the backyard rather freely, and no buying freon cans, and no releasing freon/ozone into the atmosphere....

LARC

March 22 2008, 7:44 PM

Rolf,

What do you need to hook the hose up?

I use to have one.

Did these hook to the threaded cans or clamp on to a rim on the top of the can?

You could buy the cans for 99 cents. They worked best if you painted them black and let them warm up in the sun.

Spring

April 6 2008, 8:04 AM

Same here.

We have had some warm days but are still getting a frost now and then.

We will be having more days in the 60's so I will be doing a little more shooting in the backyard.

As it dries out I will start getting the garden ready to plant.

In central Illinois May 15 is our 'frost free date'.

The last two years things warmed up nicely in early April, then we got a hard freeze both years.

It is hard to put off planting when it is so nice out, but it can save a lot of replanting.

I still plan to put out a couple of tomato plants early and then cover them if it cools off.

I saw three pelicans yesterday, a rare visitor in these parts. A flock of about 100 landed a couple weeks ago in one of the lake inlets. Not sure if any of them will stay for the summer.

Pelicans are pretty cools birds. I saw them once when I was in Florida. May 21st is the frost free date for us here in Ontario. I'm waiting for it to get a little warmer because I would like to play with my Crosman Trapmaster 1100. I suppose it would be warm enough today at about 11 Celcius but I wouldn't get as many shots off as if it was about 20 Celcius. I'm still looking around for a Feinwerkbau 124. There are some floating around but they cost an arm and a leg. I guess if I want to get one in minty condition then I have to pay. Well talk to you guys later.

Pelican

April 6 2008, 3:10 PM

Florida is where I have seen pelican's too. I hope a couple stick around, they will add to the variety.

I know what you mean on the CO2 guns.

About 80 degrees plus if better weather for getting more shots out of them.

Hope you can find a 124 for a good price. At least you have plenty of others to blast away with until a good bargain shows up.

Did you say you have a BSA?

Gary

Ya I have a ton of airguns to blast away with at the moment. I weeded out a few and kept the good ones. I did have a BSA but I sold it. It was BSA Meteor MK1 in .177. It was chronying about 580fps with an 8gr pellet. I kind of regret selling it. It was a nice shooter. If I ever find another one in good condition I will buy it. Thanks.

Jobs/earthquake

April 20 2008, 8:49 PM

Two jobs?

Is school out yet?

Be sure to keep those grades up.

It is warming up here too. Great weather to shoot in the backyard.

We had an earthquake in southern Illinois Friday.
A 5.2.
Woke me up.

I thought a squirrel or bird was banging around in the roof gutters and went back to sleep. No damage around here.

My daughter and son in law's silky terrier woke them up before it started. He went wild. Then when their bedroom door started rattling they thought someone was in the house!

There was a smaller aftershock later in the morning that rattled a few dishes.

April 28 2008, 9:32 PM

I only do the two jobs on the weekend so I don't miss any school. I work 8:00am-4:45pm on Saturday at the lumber yard and 5:00pm-about 10:00pm at the restuarant. On Sunday I work from 10:00am-4:00pm at the lumber yard and 5:00pm-about10:00pm at the restuarant. Friday nights I just work at the restarant. But I am making some pretty good money. Well talk to ya'll later.
Thanks.

Re: Shooting the Bull #141

May 18 2008, 6:24 PM

RM-It has warmed up again, highs in the 70's.

I have about half of my garden out and should finish this week if the warm dry weather holds.

I picked up a Benjamin 122 pistol over the weekend, one of the old push rod pump pistols but the seals are bad in it.I also got an old mint Daisy 880 and an early Chinese break barrel pellet rifle-no plastic, even the butt plate is metal. Last week I found an old Rogers pistol (like the early Daisy CO2 pistols but the plug that holds the CO2 cartridge in is missing and a Daisy 96 BB gun.

It has been nice enough to do some shooting in the back yard.

Hope it stays like this for awhile before it starts hitting the 90's.

Last year we went from running the furnace, had a week or two of nice weather then it was time for the air conditioning.

Have you had time to get started on your car again?

Hi. Yes I finally got my car out of storage a few weeks ago. I haven't had much time to work on it though because of my two jobs. So what I did was I quit my restaurant job and kept my job at the lumber yard. So now I have more free time. I also have been doing quite a few machining projects for people and they pay me to do it. I just bought an old 1964 Standard Modern metal lathe so that I can do projects at home instead of always at school. So machining is I guess considered another job for me.lol. I haven't shot any of my airguns in weeks or even had a chance to aquire any new ones. But that will change once the summer time comes. I am itching to shoot my Diana 24 again. And also shoot the Trapmaster. It has been sitting in the corner in my room since October. Well I guess I can say I am itching to shoot all my guns again. The old ones with the leather seals like my slavia 620 need a work out again. Maybe one day this week if it is nice. Well talk to you guys later. Thanks.

Sounds like you are becoming a talented machinist. Did you learn this in shop class?

Sure is a handy skill to have if you work on guns or cars.
