A real sad story

Hi,

Bought an early cast iron lever, oak stocked Red Ryder on GunBroker (See GB Item# 97067595 for pics) This auction was the seller's first sale. Included with the nice gun was a rusty old piece of junk Red Ryder. After doing the BUY NOW, I emailed the seller three times and got no response. In my last email I requested she not send the rusty gun, just the stock, shot tube and lever; again, no response.

The gun/s arrived Saturday 4-26-08 in a USPS triangle tube. Both guns were loose in the box, that's right, neither was separately wrapped in anything, there was no padding, no crunched up newspaper, no bubble wrap, no nothing but two BB guns and the loose shot tube from the junk gun flopping around in the box. The nice Red Ryder was no longer nice; both the stock and forearm were scratched, dinged, gouged, you name it. The barrel and receiver were scratched and gouged from the shot tube and rusty screws and nuts on the junk gun. What a shame.

How anybody who knows or has guns could do something as stupid as this is beyond all reason. Just wanted to share this sad note with people who really care for and appreciate fine old Daisys.

Packing.

April 28 2008, 12:17 PM

Such a shame,I guess some times you have to set the rules regarding packaging, some people just don't use common sense,I would have asked the seller how they intended to package the item,I guess we all live an learn. Its a shame that some one would pack the guns in that manner, the cost to do a good job would be little compared to the resulting damage.

Packaging.

I sell guns on the auction sights all the time. It's pretty simple. I pack them the way I would want to receive them. I have never gotten a complaint.

Jerry, I sincerely hope your feedback on the seller will mention the total lack of packing and the damage, so future bidders will benefit...

Thanks,
Don R.

Hi Bob,

I figured I wasn't the only one. The gun is so good otherwise that I have to keep it. I think I can fix the stock and forearm so it looks decent again. It shoots hard and all it needs to be completely whole is an original small top stock screw, a side stock screw and nut, and a good cleaning.

Thanks for the reply,

Jerry

My thanks to Bob, Ed, Phil, and Don for their replies and comments regarding my situation. The Feedback I left for the seller, "Shooter_Bailey" should be informative to other prospective buyers of her auction items on GunBroker.com in the future. I expect a negative retaliatory FB any day now. Wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth?

Thanks again,
