The M. 25 that I want to use has no hole on the top of the receiver and I do not drill holes in bb guns. The receiver has a tab/tang with a hole at the end of it, and is about a No.7 Variant I think . When I install the rear M. 300 mount using only the hole at the end of the mounting bracket tab, the whole thing feels somewhat loose. I am pretty certain that this model could have been purchased with a 300 scope and it was probably known as a Model 325.
The question is how did they do it?? Did Daisy put an extra hole in the receiver on the model 325?
For referance, I can email pictures of the M 25 and the M 300 scope mount with no screw on the top, but there is one at the end of the tab.
Please cut me some slack for not using the proper terminology.
Thank You for your response.Jay
Stevec.... I know that you are going to read this. What do you think?
Hey Guy
I see the problem you are talking about.I don't have an answer right now but will check on it.I have a Red Ryder with a 300 scope but has two screws to hold it in place at the back of the receiver. The 25s I have don't have a screw at the back of the receiver like you mentioned

Stevec...
That's right I saw a picture of your 300 RR on another forum. I have a couple of the early teen Model 25 variants and they have the screw hole on the top of the receiver without the tang, but if I put the M.300 on one of them, it would not be period correct because the M 300 came out about 1939.
Sure do wish that someone with a Model 325 setup would chime in tell me how it was done.

What I found

Hey Guy
Talked to Gary Garber and he refered me to his book, everyone needs his book. There seems that there were two mounts for the 300 scope. One had the tang that went down the stock and one didn't.The one without the tang mounted to the top screw at the end of the receiver.Seems this was on the early 25s.The later ones had a tang and went over the tang on the model 25s that screwed into the stock. Now what I don't really know is the mount with the tang, did it have two holes at the rear to mount or did people drill them.Like my RR,if I had the other mount for the scope a hole would not have to be drilled into the stock where the tang is.Now if there are two holes on the right side of receiver it would take a 303 scope.Gary said he just screws the scope on useing just the screw at the end of the tang if there is no screw at top of the receiver.I hope this makes sense and helps a little

Many thanks to you and Gary Garber for taking the time to check into that M.300 mounting question. It is clear now. What I did was to remove the sight bracket and massage it just a little to make it fit over the M 25 tab a little better and reinstall it with one screw at the end of the tab and into the M25 tab hole and then into the existing hole in the wood stock. The top bracket hole is left open where there is no corrisponding receiver hole. There is a whole lot less wiggle to it now and that is the way I am going to leave it unless I get some world shaking imformation to the contrary.
Now I need the name of that book and information on where to get it when you get a chance.
Thank You Jay

Steve..
I am in the process of contacting Gary so that I can get one of the books. It sounds like something that I've got to have if I expect to keep playing with these Daisys.
Thanks for the follow up on the other forum also.
