Determining condition/value on a model 179

I have an old model 179 revolver someone gave me. I really have no use for it and was looking to get rid of it but I have no idea what condition it is in so that I can use the value guide. I have no BBs to test but as far as I can tell the gun is in working condition. It still cocks and fires. The spring loader underneath the barrel still retracts and extends back into place. The sight on the barrel is slightly bent. Other than that I would say it just needs to be cleaned up a little and it would be good.

Good grief, hombre would it be such a hardship to buy a little packet of BBs and stick em in gun to see if it shoots? The photos show it appears to be in pretty decent condition. I have one just like that and an NRA Cent. model that is nearly mint.

rural stuff...

Like all of you probably, I own an odd assortmen of guns. It comes with living on ranches and rural places all my life. Since my triple-bypass 5 years ago I do a certain amout of hiking every day to keep in shape. Have a habit of toting an old antique Spanish copy of a Colt Lghtning sixshooter stuffed with .38 cal.snakeloads(shotshells) for rattlers. This is south Texas and springtime. Has been several months since I busted a rattler. Thought I"d pack the Daisy NRA 179 today probably wont see any thing. You guessed it...right beside my house a snake zips by and gets away!
