I have an old "GEM" air rifle in my collection and I was wondering if anybody knew anything about it. Such as where and when was it made and do they have any collector value. It has a good 95% of the nickle finish on the receiver, even the butt plate has a solid 80% nickle left. It is in .177 caliber.
The name Gem is sort of a generic name for air rifles made by many manufactures. Most are derived from a patent issued to George Gunn in 1871 as modified by a USA patent issued to Asa Pettengill in 1878.You can read more in The Blue Book of Airguns.Pricing varies but for the most part with few exceptions these guns don't command a lot of money.
