Hey all
I know most of you mean well, but when you tell a person their rifle is worth this much because you read it in some book is not helping them or us that might want to buy the rifle.Yeah tell them it is worth tons of money then try to buy it.At least tell them to look at auctions and to list them there so we have some kind of chance to buy it.Yes,we all want a deal, but not if you keep telling the owner their rifle is worth tons of money and you haven't even seen it or know if it even works.Next time you pay top dollar for a rfle and get it and find out it dosen't work you will see what I mean.Has happened to a couple of guys here that thought they knew it all because they read the books.

I agree with what you are saying, but to be honest I am seeing guns go much higher on the auction than I would be willing to pay. As an owner selling, I'm glad that is the case, however, when you are trying to buy a gun the prices usually run higher than the blue book states. I know this is just a guideline, but you need to start someplace. I looked at a nice Daisy 102-36 nickel last week which was priced $185.00 in an antique store. I offered $125. which is higher than the blue book lists this gun and the owner counter offered at $150. I know it is all about "condition" in most cases, but bb gun prices have gone south in most cases over the past 3 years. I was at a show in California last Sat. A very nice condition Buck Jones sold for $130. I sold a Daisy 1000 with original sling and excellent condition for $75, and a Daisy Model 179 in excellent condition for $100.
This wonderful world of bb gun collecting is changing every day, but its still a fun hobby.

The books that give the values such as The Blue Book are ball park figures, just another tool.I find most prices on the 2 major auction sites are high compared to the real value. That being said what it's worth is what ever the buyer feels it's worth.Very few bb guns come up for sale on the 2 popular bb gun sites and should one come up and be sold the selling price is seldem posted. It's a great hobby but there's always room for improvement.A few yr's ago I put a nice 1942 Daisy R.R all orig. with the box[yep, the box!]up for sale on this site and was hard pressed to get $150 for it.Go figure. If I can find the pic. i'll post it below.

I think I saw a photo of your Red Ryder on the Daisy Forum; it was beautiful
