on photo day, DS wanted to wear his beloved brown jacket (he's out of the cape phase, sadly) so prepared for objections from the teacher or photographer, we wrote a note and popped it in his pocket. Also on that note, we says we knew his two front teeth were missing, it's ok for him to give an open-lipped smile.
our first mistake was not giving the teacher a copy but in my rush that morning, I thought she wouldn't be with the kids or at least right next to them and why add this detail to her day.
he comes home, tells us that, yes, he could keep his jacket on but no, the photographer wouldn't let him give an open mouthed smile, he said that the photographer said that we would be embarrassed if he smiled that way. !!! We are pretty mad. My DS feels bad but he's a fixer so I had to explain that he did nothing wrong. I waited to see the photos and they look fine, he looks rather handsome (I'll scan them in or wait until we get the CD and share the pic with you guys)
I felt we had to at least order the CD (20$!!) just so DS won't feel like we hate his photo, we usually get a package so it would stand out this year. He's in grade 1, he's had Jk&Sk photos.
I usually never get the CD but this time, it was the cheapest and it galls me to pay so much. the jerk. I'll be getting some developed at a photo shop in the amounts I want (grumble grumble grumble)
I want to write that photographer a letter telling him how his casual words had a big effect (DS believed we'd be embarrassed, he truly did. It's too easy to chip away at someone's self esteem) but do we need to talk to the school's principal before we mail off our letter to the photographer? since he was hired by the school....
I have yet to write a letter, I'm so mad, still, that every time I compose one it sounds too angry.
oh, and get this. there were 11 shots! 11! ok, sure, they were all a fraction of a second apart but still, if he was offering so many, would it have hurt to throw in a couple toothy ones???
and yes, he offered a re-take day but then DS would feel like we hate the first ones. ugh. and DS is sooooo cute without his teeth. we'll be taking a snap-shot ourselves and putting with this one, when i frame it. won't look as professional but i bet mine will be 100x better. (grumble grumble grumble the jerk grumble grumble grumble)
I know I ranted a bit but I'd still like to hear your opinions and I welcome all even if it's to tell me to chill out, I'm over reacting

DS was conceived naturally the cycle following a cancelled DE IVF, using my good friend's eggs. She was on the verge of hyperstimming.
DD's nat conception I attribute to using OPKs like a crazy nut, eating grapefruit daily and using preseed. also 5 cycles of TCM ending 2 cycles before that lucky cycle.
