Response to What the hell is a non-typical child anyway?

Kids without these kinds of developmental and neurological disorders are sometimes called "typical" or "neurotypical." But she was required to take a course in graduate school on children with learning differences, and the public schools are required to teach to the needs of all kinds of kids. Some professionals have suggested that my ds has mild PDD-NOS and that we need to pursue testing so that he has academic and social support.

This is a university town, as you know, so we have a huge range in children's abilities and needs. I wish I could get her out of that school, but the principal has defended her to me. I know other parents dread her and have complained about her. I'm not sure why she hasn't left. I know some other schools nearby where she would fit in better with their ethos.
