bUNNIES ARE VERY HARD TO CARE FOR, AND A VET TOLD ME THAT GUINEA PIGS ARE THE BEST PETS EVER FOR KIDS. Sorry about the caps... Oh and rats are also a great pet; very sweet and loving and don't bite.
Anyway yes, before getting bunny please read the HRS web site about food, health and keeping them busy so they are not a nuisance. I had MANY bunnies once... Can be very expensive to see a vet as they are exotics because of their difficulty with anesthetizing.
Personally I think they are not the best pet for kids; too many get locked in a hutch outside, forgotten and even starve from people forgetting to feed them; I have seen it all. Or freeze or are alone without a companion. It's very sad. House rabbits are the best way to do it; for them and for the family.
