Response to Chiming in
for the sound advice. No one has ever really pinpointed what DS#1 has, so it's hard to know for sure if he was immunocompromised. But he sure presented that way! The docs originally thought whatever he had was neurodegenerative, and that the frequent illnesses were part of that. But I insisted he was catching them from daycare, because they got me sick, too! (How can neurodegeneration symptoms be transmitted, lol?) Anyhow, I'm convinced that was part of it, so I'm praying DS#2 fares much better!
You're so right about things being different back when there were tons of kids around to play with. I was very rarely in the house back when I was a kid. But there's really no one around here for DS#2, and my sister and I try to stimulate him creatively, but no one can do that like another child, you know?
Thanks for sharing your experiences with your DD.
