I live

I live. I bow to antibiotic researchers everywhere and thank them for my life. 12 hours after finally getting the proper antibiotics for pneumonia into me, my husband remarked that I sounded like I had had a brain tumor removed. Indeed I felt like I had. I have spent 6 weeks sick. The last 4 days I could feel the bacteria making progress past my lungs. I was scared. I had to wait until Thursday when my doc would return from vacation since her covering doc proved to be an idiot and would not listen to me that she had worries about pneumonia for me and the antibiotics she prescribed did not work, and that my lungs were gurgling.

Still, I got to see a ton of old TV. I watched Farrah Fawcet as a fresh faced teen on "I Dream if Jeannie". She was unearthly. I swear I heard fairy bells coming from her. Yeah, that could have been near asphyxiation, but she was truly amazing never-the-less. I marveled at the energy of the actors in "The Beverly Hillbillies". I still laughed at "Bewitched" and enjoyed seeing the Redjack guy from Star Trek really flex his acting muscle as an enchanted frog. I watched a ton of Dr Who, and finally realized how refreshing it was to have an alien in a show that did not act stupid. I also wondered why there were no out takes available.

I am ranting. I'll probably regret this post. I am still sick, but the gurgling is less. It was scary how fast I went downhill after weeks of the mild gurgling. In just a couple of days, everything changed. I was sacred that these antibiotics would also not work. But I live, and I get to her my kids talk all about the field trip of a lifetime where they visited an Amish school, and played with the Amish kids today.

I am crying hysterically. and I have to stop, because I can't breathe when I am doing this.

Used to watch old Doc Who as a kid

The Tom Baker ones. These new ones, with David Tennant and the guy before him that ended up on Heros for an episode are far superior. Waiting for the next installment.

yes!

I agree. I used to watch the old ones too, I was the only one in my high school who did. I even knit myself a long scarf and got a long coat like Tom Baker's Dr Who. happy.gif what a geek but then nobody knew who I was dressing as. heh heh

The new ones are amazing. How far did you get? I think the States get them much later than we do. There are 4 seasons. plus specials. email me and I'll give you a spot where you can find all the seasons' episode guides. happy.gif
Have you seen any of the off-shoot Torchwood? 3 Seasons. brilliant too. Russell T Davies created it.

It's so rare to find a Dr Who fan. nice happy.gif

Not a Torchwood fan

I can't stand the lead. I just don't see the attraction power he's supposed to have. I especially did not like the season end. The guy is NOT a hero, and everyone acts as he is.

I have a dream of building a tardis tea house ion my garden. Figure I'd cover the extra room with climbing roses.

Anyway. I'll email.

You poor thing -- I've been there!

November 6 2009, 3:04 PM

After DS was born, I developed a chronic cough, and went to a very well known ENT, one of the best in this area. He misdiagnosed me completely, after I didn't get well, he treated me for "acid reflux." I kept calling the office and telling them I was sicker and sicker, that I had many other terrible symptoms besides a cough, but he firmly refused to believe it was anything else (he had done a CT scan of my sinuses, and they were clear; he based his diagnosis on that.)

Anyway, I finally went to my regular internist after months of suffering (I even passed out a few times!), and sure enough, I had pneumonia (after weeks of broncitis!) It was horrific, and Wendy, I feel for you tremendously. He immediately put me on strong antibiotics and eventually I got better, but it left me with lung damage.

I am glad you are nurturing yourself; I was caring for a sick baby part of the time, and my disabled mother as well (DH was away on business a lot during those months.)

I was so far gone that I was eventually diagnosed with COPD and chronic broncitis (a chest x-ray showed spots on my lung and damage to the lining of my lungs after this protracted illness.)

Please keep taking care of yourself!

Hugs, Maria

Aw! Hugs!

I hate that you suffered so long. Do have a serious talk with your gp and make sure she has a stern talk with her partner. Get some kind of prominent note on your file if you can. IKWYM about the abx. When I have sinus infections, I can tell a difference 12 hours after beginning the abx.

Pneunomia is scary and I can imagine how awful you've been feeling. Hooray for modern medicine!

Now get some more rest.
