The Sisterhood of taking care of babies while you are sick

How do we live through these days? Feeling like we just want to crawl under covers and die but there is a baby to feed, diaper, entertain and keep safe? And there is no relief in sight for hours while the dishes and laundry just keep piling up...
I tell you there is no paid job on the planet harder, except maybe chicken boning in the American South.

I hear you

My worst moment ever as when DS was a baby, just crawling. I had a virus and was so sick and just wanted to close my eyes and sleep. DS was really demanding and wouldn't let me. DH was out of town (of course). At one point I ran to the bathroom to vomit and didn't get there on time and meanwhile DS started crawling over to me (you get the drift, it was disgusting). I just bawled.

Hugs to you. Hope you're better fast.

xoxo
Lillian

This is one of my biggest anxieties/fears about parenting and you are living it. I'm so sorry. Can you possibly find someone to come in and help out so you can get a break?

me:40, DH 41
FSH 26
DS: born by c-sec Apr15'03 (after 4 years of ttc, starting in 1998)
DD born by c-sec Oct 13 2007 happy.gif (after just under 3 years of ttc)
DS was conceived naturally the cycle following a cancelled DE IVF, using my good friend's eggs. She was on the verge of hyperstimming.
DD's nat conception I attribute to using OPKs like a crazy nut, eating grapefruit daily and using preseed. also 5 cycles of TCM ending 2 cycles before that lucky cycle.

I'm so sorry, Elizabeth. You sound like you feel just wretched. So, so hard. I was so afraid in the last few weeks that one or both of us would come down with H1N1 while our children were sick; that we didn't makes me so grateful. I'm just so sorry you're having to deal with this. Hopefully today you're feeling a bit better?

Don't worry about the dishes and laundry. You need every bit of sleep you can get, when you can get it.

xoxo Karen

So true

it is an under appreciated job as well. No calling out sick when you just want to stay in bed. Hang in there.

I truly have been there!

November 9 2009, 9:40 AM

I have two brain tumors (that can cause killer headaches/brain swelling) and chronic broncitis, there are days when I can barely lift my head from the pillow.

Yet, life must go on, I remember caring for sick little DS (who has respiratory problems to this day) -- he still gets severe croup in the middle of the night, and needs to be nebulized/taken to the hospital... it is so hard.

HUGS! Hang in there!

Maria
