Sorry that I've been so scarce recently.

MM-IL - I'm so sorry that you're going through such a tough time healthwise. I hope that you find answers and some relief soon. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you. BTW, if you consume artificial sweeteners like aspertame, you may want to try cutting back and see if it helps. I've heard of several cases where people thought they had MS and linked some of the symptoms to artificial sweeteners.

ndn - Congratulations!!!! I hope that everything goes well and that you are getting enough rest to really enjoy your new arrival.

EllenA - I'm sorry about E's nose and also that you have such awful neighbor/parents in your circle of contacts. Stellar examples of what not to do and great inverse role models, but E is already too evolved to need those. I hope the physical damage stays minor and adds character to his already handsome face.

Gail - I do not let DS eat artificially sweetened things and I shudder when people insist that their children eat sugar-free versions of anything. That said, I can't control everything that goes into DS' mouth and figure in this polluted world, an occasional dose of artificial sweetener won't kill him or do permanent damage. DS does speak up when he knows and tells people, "My mom doesn't let me have stuff with artificial sweeteners." If he receives something (one of our friends gave him a cool drink in a neat bottle without realizing it was sugar free) I get him something and exchange it with DS. DH and I drink sugar free drinks because we're mature and our brains and organs are already fully developed (an even deteriorating).

Anita! So nice to see your name again. I'm glad that things are going well for you and that you re-visited the board.

PinkD - I think about you and hope that no news is good news at your household. You are a strong and brave woman and your children will appreciate this one day when they are older and look back. Hang in there!

Hi Cy

October 13 2011, 11:56 PM

Ive missed you around here. Hope everything is okay. Thanks for thinking of me; I am still trying to sort everything out here. DH is still in the house, and I guess I still, deep in the heart of hearts, hope that this can all work out. Its really hard to figure out. So I guess no news is good news, for now. It is all about the children, and that is what makes it so very, very difficult.

Pink

We can see it - it's barely noticeable but we can see the asymmetry. Anyone unaware of what happened wouldn't catch it. DS thinks that the whole ordeal made him a little tougher. He's proud of it.

Cy...good to hear from you

I hope all is going ok with you. Thank you for the input on the artificial sweeteners. I do just have to let it go but find it frustrating that other parents make snacks with it in it. I feel for her that her DD can't have sugar but as others said, there are other options that are healthy that don't have sugar at all. The teacher just never responded to my note but after reading everyones posts I regretted even mentioning it to her, I can't control what they eat when out of the house and it is only a little.
