Sir/Madam
I was just going through your web-site & got struck with a question.
That we all know that,"Socialist state is one which everything is controlled & owned by the state govt.".
But we say 'China is a Socialist state', this can't be possible b'cause in China itself there are private companies exist. So the very definition of socialist state is violated i.e everything is controlled by state govt.. Sir/Madam could you kindly tell me am I wrong or right & why so.
Secondly, do you know that is there any Socialist State in World exist.

Sir/Madam kindly comment on it, as I stuck in a very bad dilemma.
Waiting eargerly for your response.

A state can be a workers' state or have a socialist government and tolerate some private enterprise provided that the commanding heights of the economy (banks, heavy industry, medical care, and so forth) are in the hands of the state, that private ownership of manufacturing and service enterprises is understood to be temporary and that the ultimate goal is a completely socialist economy in the not-too-distant future, and that the rights of workers in the private enterprises are fully protected in the areas of pay, absolute freedom from abuse or humiliation of any kind from bosses, and other vital areas. China does not seem to be measuring up in these areas, by a long shot. Whether it has already become a capitalist state or is on the verge of becoming one is a matter of opinion. I'd like to hear more opinions on it on this board.

I don't think there really is a socialist state in the world. To tell the truth I have studied human psycology, Socialism, Emperialism, War tactics and evolution myself having a look at every possible way that I can even if it disobeys the current system of the world. For 14 years I have come to the conclusion; where I still am that Socialism is the happiest way of life and also most intelligent. But I am quite convinced I found the problem or maybe it was there all along. The weakness or problem is not in Socialism but in humans. I believe evolution has bought us here and maybe this is the way most of us would go, but people who feel the suffering of a systematic problem are people who have a vey questioning nature and willing to risk their life to stand up to this. And this is where my poblem come in as I don't understand when you offer to give absolute happiness to the human race, they analyse what they would loose in this time to see whether they'll be richer or if they could afford thing in a totally happy world where you wouldn't even have to care about value but see less value as a wrong thing. Basically If everyone went to school in Socialism and they all wore uniforms, they would wonder why one person hasn't got the correct or full uniform. In capitalism people will wonder why their friend has so much packed lunch while he or she's hunry still. Anyway the point I seem to not fully understand is why if you promise to give soo much to people to make them happy and live a full life then why would they get bored o want to have troubles..??,.. I mean people with trouble and stress have to work soo hard and all they want to do is to get rich but poeple that are happy they get bored of their life and wonder why they could make more in a Capitalist world. I'd appreciate it if anyone can bring up any ideas or a solution to this problem.

And as to China, China is not a socialist state anymore and so isn't nearly all countries. They shouldn't be called a socialist state where it don't have anything to do with it but Emperialism make socialism look bad in veryway it can becaus it don't want to take a risk.

Ryu, I understand your dilemma. There is a definite solution, though. Your post was a bit long-winded and a bit unclear, but from what I gathered, you see that being happy and having everything you need creates a problem in that you get bored. You state that the rich person, who has everything gets bored.

What communism is supposed to do, is liberate us from wage-labour and allow us to democratically control the means of production. "From each according to ability, to each according to need" sums up how distribution of goods in a communist society would work. Goods would not be produced if they did not serve a necessary purpose, and goods would not be produced to make profits and compete with other firms. There would be no market economy. It would be a planned economy. If more shoes were needed, the shoe factory would respond by making more shoes. The product would be designed to last and be effective - quite a cry from $200 Nike's which last less than a year, despite our ability to make shoes that can last for at least two. It would be production on demand. This would free up so much time for people to pursue their own goals in life. Not only would everything be run democratically, but everything that produced goods would be owned by everyone. So, life would involve full participation in the political sphere and pursuit of any interest without the limitations of class, gender, race, sexuality, wealth, etc. Our consciousnesses would be altered by this new society and we would be happy we would only work when it was required, and we would never be limited to pursue any goal we wanted.

Consciousness is shaped by our material and social surroundings. The rich person in a capitalist country gets bored because boredom is the result of their surroundings. There are plenty of things to do - ideally nobody should ever be bored unless they want to be. There are plenty of things to do and learn. You must also consider socialism and communism as the liberation of the mind from harsh material realities. When we have everything we need and we get to participate in a real meaningful democratic sense, we will be free to do whatever we want.

China really isnt a communist state. It initially set out to be, but its more of a convergence of a capitalist system based on socialist beliefs. It's becoming more and more westernised every year, although alot of the market is still state controlled and there are heavy restrictions on industry, so it's more state capitalist if anything.

Communism/socialism will create a world where everyone is free and have enough material possessions, but that doesn't mean all fullfilling activities will cease. There'll still be a lot we can do, teach the young, find cures for illnesses, explore space, etc. In fact a communist society would free us from the drugery of oppression so that we would be better able to do the things we want to do.
