United on the Political Spectrum of the USA?

There has been one big question that has been bothering me since I realized that I was a Socialist/Communist. And that is : "Why isnt there a union of the Socialist parties in this country?" One large party to compete with the 'conservative' Republicans, the 'moderate' Democrats, and the Libertarians. See, we have the Socialist Party USA, the Communist Party USA, the Green Party, the Socialist Workers Party, and countless others consisting of only a handful of members. I know for a fact that unions and being united is a core fundemental idea of Socialism and Communism, but why isnt there any union among these groups? It pains me on who to belong to. What party should I join? Its difficult to decide when they have a common cause but no unity. Is there anyone out there who can address such a problem?
