Our goverment likes to assert that the American values system is based on freedom, democracy, respect, tolerance, and goodwill. Yet these values couldn't be any farther from the truth. Truthfully our country and our government are based on the values of war, hatred, theivery, racism and greed. Without any of these core values, America would not be here today. However, it is only too easy to see that nobody in their right mind would want to be associated with any of these values, so our government came up with the new, friendlier set of values. Which in turn attributes another value to our system, the value of lies. Untill we own up to the past and our true value system, there is no way any changes will ever be made. Because of the fact that we keep hiding behind the past and choose to ignore the true values that our country was founded on, nothing will ever change. If wished, I will be more than happy to back up my evaluation of America's true value system with facts, however I don't want to go into it if I need not.

I would actually like to know the facts, if you don't mind. I agree with you that what America has done to achieve its current state is based on greed war etc. I however do believe that the "forefathers" didn't intend it to be what it has become. I would like to correspond with you if that is alright.

America may well be 'the Land of the free and the home of the brave' but the police force is more like a militia. In the movie 'Borat' after he had sung the star spangled banner about Kazakhstan at a rodia, there was an entire linch mob following him. In Vietnam and Iraq, American soldiers have killed innocent people simple because they were angry.
I do admit that the founding fathers did not intend to have America turn out this way, but it certainly has.

To me it is important to examine the current social realities through a contemporary lens, with a solid understanding of history. In their own time, the founding fathers were revolutionary radicals, who belonged to the far left of the political spectrum. They believed that a capitalist economy presided over by a democratic government would bring liberation to the people (women and minorities aside). I think that while their hearts were in the right place, the liberation of the working man/woman is still a battle to be won. The culture and society of America today is not the culture and society of the America of yesterday, nor the America of tomorrow. What exists right now is not as important as what could exist in the future.
Stay strong, keep fighting.
