People in general are stupid. With democracy the nation's massses are alowed to vote in their best interests. When I here that phrase I laugh! Who does not see the danger that this situation breeds! Honestly! It's ridiculous! It's like letting childern, teens, preteens, whatever you want to call them. I'ts like leting them move into their own houses, and letting them live like adults. No one can possibly expect them to make right choices. They may think they are looking out for their best interests, but they're too young to know what their best interests are!
It's the exact same situation with the masses. They vote for their best interests, but the average person is too stupid to know whats best for them. Average people are that stupid. The average person is not as stupid as a "childern, teens, preteens". If the masses were not allowed to vote in their best interest, then they would rebel against the dictatorship, and there would always be political and social unrest until there is democracy.

You hold too much faith in man kind. I'm not saying that the masses are so stupid that they will forfeit their right to vote. A smart leader will allow the people to vote, but will negate any results thereof. A smart leader does not rule through force or fear. He rules through deception. And yes, people are stupid enough to be easily decevied. Perception is reality. Show the people what they want to see and they will be happy. But just because you show them something dosen't mean it is true. The people will be satisfied as long as they think what they are seeing is true. Hocage, the “smart leader” you describe and the methods they use are in place in most ‘democracies’ in global society. They are designed to keep a set group of people in power while letting the people believe that they have a choice in the matter. Reel democracy, however, is only a danger to those currently in power. You seem to assume that the average member of society is incapable of running their own lives. How do you think communes work if average people are too infantile to understand what is best for them?

But has this been possible before? Usually the type of political leaders you are talking about, rig elections in their own favor, and thus the people don't get to vote, because their vote is not counted only the fake ballots are counted.

Yes yes a thousand times yes. So what if Hitler was evil, he was a genius as an orator, and a leader in general (obviously not a war leader). Yes, he did some horrendous things, imagine if he hadn't gone to war and instead simply allowed Germany to progress, in peace. Germany would have been the Third world power. The povery stricken countries of the world would be called the Fourth World instead of the third. Democracy, Communism, Fascism would have stood as D/C stood.

But that is the truth about people. So what if Hitler had such a good understanding of humans? Do you find yourself being so close minded that you would not admit a truth simply because someone else has seen it first? Maybe its the fact that it was someone who was so evil...or simply because it was a fascist. Maybe you're just pointing out that its a funny coincidence, and in that case sorry for my assumption.
Also people are not too stupid to know what's best for them. In fact, thinking that they are IS stupid. The system is simply too smart. The system is built to keep people ignorant, to keep people appeased. This is not a simple system either, capitalism is a powerful opponent. It is self serving, it makes it impossible to detach from it in anything bigger than a small group. It is intricate and fascinating, but only if you are fascinated by such things. People aren't stupid, the system was simply built by the smartest, the richest, so that the smartest and the richest could stay in power.
