Every year since ?, on the 1st of May, the workers of the world celebrate a "workers holiday" and/or a day of protest for improving their working and living conditions.

Since what year did the workers of the world start celebrating "May Day"?

In which country did May Day originate, and how did it spread to the rest of the world?

What is the significance of May Day to the Communist parties of the world?

“Since what year did the workers of the world start celebrating "May Day"?”

May Day first started in 1887 to remember and celebrate the Haymarket Riot in Chicago the previous year.

“In which country did May Day originate, and how did it spread to the rest of the world?”

Believe it or not the holiday began in the US, one of the few countries that attempted to subvert the holiday. Officially, 1st May is now Loyalty Day in the US which just makes me sick.
May Day only became what it is recognised today through the USSR’s endorsement and mass celebration of it, which spread to its satellite states and political representatives elsewhere.

“What is the significance of May Day to the Communist parties of the world?”

For socialists, Marxists, communists or anarchists May Day is a chance to protest against the status quo and celebrate the gains of the labour movement. In Britain, the big left wing parties march through the streets of London whilst other ‘independent’ persons are responsible for the trashing of global businesses such as Harrods and McDonald’s.

So it's a pretty short party, I guess?
