All men are equal, but some are more equal than others?
George Orwell seems to have been a prophet of what we would begin to believe of ourselves
Is the voice of the poor, the Third World, the destitute, is that voice heard? Are they equal with us? No! Think about it. To be topical think of elections. Who gets in power? The rich!!!!!!
How? In order to get elected you need to campaign a lot and get a lot of publicity and public awarness. Agreed? You have no chance to get elected unless a lot of campaigning has been done for you. My point? Who are the only people who can afford to pay for an election campaign? The rich!
A case in point. $46,367,413 was spent on television adverts by Bush and Kerry between 21-27 Oct. Thats in one week!!!!! And on one medium, television! Madness! What if that had been given to Third World?
But as you can see only the rich are able to campaign and get elected. So therefore the rich get in power and are therefore going to defend the rights of the elite, the rich! They are going to defend their own interests, for example, why is little given by rich countries to the Third World?
So therefore the rich rule and the poor are opressed. A true equal society? Democratic? Far from it. We in this society live in an elitist society. The worst thing is we believe we are in an equal society. We are told and taught that we are all equal, that we all have an equal chance. Well lets see what would happen if I stood fopr election beside someone with a lot of money.
Because of this elitist society, no matter what the majority who arent as rich believe about the way we should treat the Third World, we limit them and basically rob them so we can stay richer. Basically on a world scale the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Equal?
For example we will only buy raw coffee beans of African countries. They do not get much for this. They could get more if they further manufactured them, for example grounding the coffee beans. Well why don't they you ask? Becuase of this. If they sell coffee beans to us untouched, we don't tax them. But if they further manufacture them, for example grounding the coffee beans, we tax them a huge tarriff. The more they manufacture the product the more we tax them until they actually lose money when they sell because of taxes.
Why do we do this? To portect our already bloated markets. This is again an example of the rich protecting their own interests. We want no competition and so limit the Third World to selling raw materials while we manufacture these and get the money for it. The Third World is caught in a trap they cannot escape from because of our governments. The rich are in control. And we don't even know it.
The myth is still peddeled that all men are equal. I firmly believe this is a lie put in place to blind us from what is really happeneing. It is just another way of control put in place by those in control. Equality? Not in this society anyway!!!!!!
I know this is controversial and I doubt anyone agree, but what yous think? I expect to be branded a communist, but I do strongly believe that the way the West treats the Third World through capitalsim is disgustingly wrong. And for all the talk of the 'Christian' West I dont think the way the West acts could be further from the Christianity in the Bible!

I am really glad to hear from youa nd feel releived that someone can see what going on and what is wrong, cause everyone thinks I mad. The media is hugely responsible for feeding the apathy and the beliefs that we are worth more than those 'uncivilised' people. Why should we care for them is almost our response! I just find it so hard!

I know what you mean. The main problem is that when you say somthing like that alot of people will clain stuff like you arent patriotic or anti-american. People just have to learn what is happening, hopefully they will learn before far to much damage has been done.

Well basically what can be done to help the Third World? Can we give more money to them, cancel debts and relax trade laws? Stop hoarding the resources for ourselves?

I dont know, we could try, or even lead the way! The easiest start would be to releave all third world debt and they should actually probably beable to do the rest by themselves, since that is what is causing most of the economy problems in the third world.
