Samba schools playing on the beach

Six samba schools of the Special Group – Carnaval's equivalent to the first division – will be playing in the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Barra da Tijuca on January 27th and February 3rd. The
shows have been confirmed by mayor Cesar Maia and by the tourism authority of Rio. Stages will be assembled for the shows. The Samba School League will designate which schools will play. The shows are
scheduled to start at 5:30 pm.

Mark,

You are very welcome. It was great to talk to you too.

About the Carnaval... It is not that bad really. Besides, there will be at least four guys in Rio from our board and I am pretty sure that they'd love to hook up with you for some of the shows. The
shows I am informing you about are free shows and they take place on the beach amidst family crowds etc... Still we'll do Rio surivaval introduction course once you are here

Thank you,

Boris

Great and thanks!

Still left with my original inquiry though.
You discussed the shows for which I need to get tix
in advance.

Spoke with my friend and she is in straits because her father passed away and all the family's finances are tied up...and she seems to think it hard to get money to Brazil. ( i said I would send money for shows to her )

Can you tell me if she can cash a US Money order there?

Also....tell me more about these shows I should be getting tix for. Maybe if I send you money then you could buy tix... ( not that I want to keeping adding burdens to you) but if it is not trouble or you have other suggestion ...this is fine.

I hope you are well

Regards
Mark

weeks ago. Needless to say, she is devastated, trying to hold on, but it is very painful and difficult time for the her and her family.

It is hard to make money in Brazil. one of the first things a foreigner should do if he or she plans to spend an extended period of time here is to adjust your mind in relation to finances, costs and
expenses. You will be amazed how much money you can save and how much more you can get for the money you spend once you fall into 'brazilian' mode of thinking. More about it later on.

Wat I can suggest for you is to get the tickets on the day you want to see the show. Tickets for stands 6 and 13 are available all the time, the cost less then $10. The catch is that these are the last
stands and you have to wait about 30 minutes from the time the school enters the Sambadrom until you can see them. The benefits are that you still get to see the full routine, you can pick up fantasias
(carnval cosutmes) for free from the school members, often schools do some special presentations for the crowds at the end of the show, something that people sitting at the better seats don't get to see.
Since the stands are relativly uncrowded, you can move getting panoramic view or a close up view at your convenience etc.... I went two times to see Carnaval in these stands and I am a believer now, I
wouldn't want to shell out $100 and up for a "better" seat.

Unfortunatly, my shedule doesn;t leave me with time to hunt down Caranval tickets.

If you need to send money to your friend, you can send me an e-mail and we will discuss it.

Regards,

Boris

Sandra...

you are too sweet!!!
Thanks...i will check this site out.
maybe we can ICQ this week?

when would be good for you?

Mark,

I found just what you need, a site that make
Carnival reservations over the web. The site is
http://www.nogaliviagens.com and then you can choose
the English version. There you can find all the
informations you need it. Everything about the
diferent Sectors you will find over Sanbodrome, that
is the name of the place people dance samba in Rio.
You can make reservations, you will find some good
tips and there is phones, fax, ICQ and e-mail so you
will be able to ge in touch with them.
I hope you can solve your problem with that
travel agency.
Kisses,

Sandra
