I will be in Brazil April 8th for about three and a half weeks. I will traveling also to other cities. Will you still be in Rio during April? Perhaps we can hook up for drinks while I'm there. I will be staying at the Arpoador Inn in Ipanema.

I have to be in NJ in the begginning of April to do a little teaching, but should be back around the 8th. We can definetly meet up for a few drinks. Why are you staying in a hotel? Apartments are a much better deal and more convenient in my opinion.

I WILL GIVE YOU A CALL WHEN I'M IN RIO. I HAVE STAYED AT THE ARPOADOR INN IN THE PAST BECAUSE I LIKE THE LOCATION RIGHT ON THE BEACH AND THEY HAVE ROOMS
FACING THE BEACH, UNOBSTRUCTED VIEWS. I PAY AROUND US$90 PER DAY. DO YOU KNOW OF APTS WITH UNOBSTRUCTED OCEAN VIEWS IN IPANEMA? IF YOU DO PLEASE LET ME KNOW. IN ANY CASE I LOOK FORWARD TO FINALLY MEETING YOU.

Arpoador INN is located right between Copacabana and Ipanema, I like it, but it is somewhat expensive. You can rent an oceanfront view apartment for about half to 2/3 the price you've mentioned. I will pass on your request to Kenn (he is the only apartment broker I can rely on down here) and let's see what he can find for you. He has plenty of pictures of the available apartments on his Web Site www.EZ-RioRentals.com
I am looking forward to meeting you as well.

Hello all,
Been enjoying all the discussions. I've been to Rio and Sao Paulo, and plan to be back again once or twice this year. Boris, you mentioned that apartments are an easier way to go. I agree also, and yet I'm at a loss as to who to contact. Any thoughts that way? Usually I just stay at a decently priced hotel for the week.. but if there's an apartment unit available as close to the praias as the hotels, great.
Muito obrigado,

Hotels are fine, but a little expensive. For example, you can rent a nice one-bedroom apartment on or near the beach for about $40 to $60 per day off season (sometimes less). Considering that there are no
taxes and surcharges and usually you can get discounts for longer stay, it is possible to have a more rewarding and less expensive stay. Kenn is an apartment broker, try him at kenn@EZ-RioRentals.com, or post your request with dates on the board. There
are also quite a few businesses that specialise on renting flats down
here. You can try:
Thanks so much, Boris. With all the help you're giving all of us, it's a wonder you even get a chance to step outside and enjoy Brasil!
My thanks again.

you are welcome. the beauty of the story is that while I work a lot and long hours, I still end up enjoying Brazil and Rio a great deal. My office has a side ocean view, my lunch is usually at the beach and
my business casual clothing consist of a T-shirt and shorts. I'd paid my dues working for corporate world and now you have to shoot me before I'd agree to be stuck inside a cubicle ever again...

As per our conversation yesterday, I will meet you in the lobby of your apartment building at noon. I am very curious, as to what you were able to find out about RE market in Brazil
