I understand Brazil has a large disparity in income between rich and poor. I am trying to get an understanding of the different income class's in Brazil. For instance what would be the average income either monthly or anually to be placed in the following brackets?

1) Lower class
2) Middle class
3) Upper class

Tough question...

I am simplifying, but considering that the minimum salary is now R$240 (about US$85) per month, I would break up the three bulk classes as following:

Lower Class - up to three minimum salaries (about 30 million people in Brazil do not even make the minimum salary)

Middle Class - up to thirty minimum salaries

Upper Class - anything above it...

There are also some seriously rich people in Brazil, they´d be off the scale in this gradation.
