Can a foregin company purchase property in Brazil?

If so are there any "catches" on how to proceed?

Hi Ed-

Foreign corporations can own property in Brazil with certain limitations.

The best advice on the subject is actually very short:

Donīt.

Too much red tape, and too many hassles, problems, and headaches.

So I take as an individual the process is relatively easy, buy for a corporation is hard...

What if an American company had part ownership of company in Brazil, would that be hard as well? or easier?
