how are you people doing? hope all's good!
well. my girlfriend and i are traveling to Brazil in the coming month. this is a holiday trip we've been planning for a really long time, but we never were able to make it happen coz we couldn't get leave at the same time. but now it's happening and we're both thrilled at the prospect! :)
there's only one little problem, and i don't want to mess this up for my girlfriend, so i have to take my precautions. i'm what you might call a 'hypochondriac in the making' :( so i have to make sure that i'll be able to get medication and stuff in whichever area it is we're going to. we've decided on Pernambuco for the moment, but we might change our minds. anyway, i researched the area and found a list of pharmacies in the Pernambuco area here http://www.drugdelivery.ca/xx-BR-19-A-xx/Pernambuco-Pharmacy.aspx. it helps a real lot, but would anyone know if the hotels have an on-call doctor? are hospitals easy to find?
thanks for the help guys, this means a lot to me.
regards,
Trent

Private medical care in Brazil is on par if not better then what you can get in Europe or in the United States, while the public health system is a complete disaster. You will need to search for private doctors and hospitals that have English-speaking staff and the experience of dealing with foreign patients.
Where in Pernambuco are you travelling to? If you have your itineary worked out already, it is better to call the hotels where you are going to be staying and make inquires in advance, or run internet search for contacts.

Boris
