Hi there. This is a great site with so much info, glad to have found it.
Now a question.
I'm pursuing the possibility of doing some consulting work for a Brazilian company. I'm estimating the total contract price to be somewhere between USD$100K to $200K over 12~18 month duration. The details of the work to be performed and FX details are pretty straightforward and I'm looking for some insight on how to structure the agreement to get paid. Specifically, are there any fees / taxes the company might incur (in Brazil) in paying me via wire transfer to a US bank? Any particular time-frames I should be aware of to prepare the transfers out of Brazil? Prices will be in USD and payments will timed to multiple-phases.
I've heard about companies charging "a tax" upwards of 10% for wiring funds out of Brazil and want to 1) understand this tax and 2) specify any type of "taxes" will be the responsibility of the company.
Basically, I want to make sure I get paid the full amount and in the time I'm expecting it so I would like to know as much as possible about the process for the company to wire me funds. I also hear that there are a lot of hoops to jump through to send funds out of Brazil.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
