Hello current and former CHS tracksters! I just found this website and wanted to say it looks great! Somehow, I suspect Coach Wright may have been behind all this. As an (apparently) still CHS recordholder in the discus (and part-time coach in 1989-90), I was looking over the records and noticed a few errors. So that the right people get the credit, I am listing the corrections as I remember them.
Polevault- I was on the team in 1980 and if my memeory serves me correctly, Jim Accorsi hit 13'9 that year (Jim was also a fair discus thrower I might add...approx. 110ft). Dave Arwine was from my class (1983) and he was no stranger to the record board, Dave had an outstanding senior year and held the mile record for a number of years.
The 3200 M relay lists a T. Bon as a runner. I believe that it should say T. Bond. Todd did a great job for us that year.
Indoor records: Back in 1983, a number of us competed in the MSU invitational and did quite well. Steve McClelland ran a very good 2 mile and placed(I don't quite remember the time but it was close to the listed indoor record). I threw the shot 45'6" for that meet (it was the only official indoor meet that I attended...I was happy to make the finals as the meet was run without respect to class). Perhaps John Davis (the shot record holder) threw indoors back in his day, but because he was also a basketball star, I doubt it. Kim Wilson competed and probably jumped over 4"4" as she placed (she is still the CHS women's highjump record holder).
A big congrats to Trevor Baize on the new 100m record!! Now go get that 30 year old 220 record!
Good luck CHS in 2003! I will be reading the results on-line!
John Wendt (class of 1983)
