DRIvIN' RAIN Official Statement: We miss you Tommy, and where do we go from here?
DRIvIN' RAIN Statement:
On Tuesday, April 17, 2007, DRIvIN' RAIN's long time guitarist and founding member Tommy DeWolf died at his home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The band members were all shocked and shaken. At this time, each member is taking time off to deal with Tommy's loss in their own ways.
Each member will be involved with various projects throughout the summer. And we will be sure to keep you posted on each project as we hear about them.
Singer Timexx Nasty says, "We had a lot of great things planned for the summer and next year. Now we won't be able to do them. Tommy was not only a band member, he has been my best friend for years. Tommy did so much in this band. His guitar style will be hard for anyone to match. He was an important part of the songwriting team, and he did the biggest part of the backup vocals and harmonies with me. The idea of one person being able to fill his shoes is impossible. And to try and find one guy would be a waste of our time. So after a lot of deep thought, and discussion, we have decided the only way to do it, is with TWO mother fuckers. So, for the next several months DRIvIN' RAIN will be accepting demos and emails from guitarists who would like to try out for the spots".
Timexx goes on to say- "We will be looking for two players who can handle all of the guitar work. A Tesla, Guns N Roses, Skid Row, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Aerosmith kind of thing. A big duel guitar attack."
Timexx goes on to explain more details "What we would like to find are, two players. One should be the main axe man who takes the spot light and dazzles the crowd. Someone with game, someone who is not afraid to play right on the edge of the stage right up in the crowds face. This person should be an awesome guitar player and a standout showman. A Frank Hannon, Tommy Bolin, Tracii Guns, George Lynch, long hair tattoo type."
Nasty adds "The second player should be a jack-of-all-trades. A true, all around musician - Able to play duel leads, but also keyboards, bass, drums, vocals, and what ever else they are asked to play. This person would be the one who could fill in for the other band members in case of sickness on the road. Bass player, drummer, lead player can't play tonight? No problem; this person takes that spot for the night. And the show goes on. iI would be important for this player to also sing some back ups, and maybe a lead vocal if needed. And should also write songs."
Drivin' Rain's bass player, Skully Shemwell, had this to say: "What we'd like to end up with are two people who have the Talent of Tommy, the Onstage Energy of myself, and who can also harmonize with the vocal talents of Timexx… To find this in one player alone is going to be complicated enough – but two… … …"
The band also adds: "We know this is a tall order to fill, and it may be impossable to do in this day and age. But we have a dream so we wil lcahse after it as long as we can. We are serous about playing, if you don't have gear, or you have limited time, Don't Bother! Drivin' Rain is in it for the long haul. We may change from time to time, but the band rolls on. We are a family, we are a tribe, we are a rock n' roll band."
