ESL/EFL Position
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
INTERLINK Language Centers (ILC) provides intensive English language training, academic preparation, and cross-cultural orientation programs on diverse American university campuses. After three years of preparation, INTERLINK at Al-Yamamah opened its doors to the public on September 6, 2004.
Al-Yamamah College (YC) is a new, five-year institution of higher education, offering an American-style education and curriculum in English. INTERLINK will enhance the offerings of the College by providing expert, state-of-the-art English language instruction during the "Foundation Year" and throughout the students' stay at Al-Yamamah. Focusing on critical thinking, an innovative curriculum based on what is in use at existing INTERLINK programs will be sustained in the new Riyadh venue. Its carefully selected faculty members are expected to engage a wide variety of skills and talents to provide the best possible learning experiences for Saudi students. First-rate teaching resources, facilities, and support services are available for the faculty.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The faculty's primary responsibility is to help students learn English either in preparation for taking academic courses at the College or for improving English for professional and personal purposes. They include 20 hours of weekly EFL instruction, advising students on their progress, and participating in program meetings and college committees. Classes will also be offered to outside institutions and to members of the business community or general public. Classes may be taught during regular school hours or in the evening. Secondary duties consist of assisting program administrators with curriculum review, revision and on-going assessment, orientation, scheduling, testing, placement, and materials review and development.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Genuine commitment to students, teaching, and the profession
Ability to accept cultural differences and adapt to a way of life requiring understanding, conformity and flexibility
MA in ESOL or Linguistics or a closely related field (non-native speakers must have near-native proficiency in English; their undergraduate and graduate studies must be from an English-speaking country; and they must have ESL teaching experience in an English-speaking environment)
Ability to teach all levels, ranging from very basic to advanced
Superior verbal, written, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
Two or more years of teaching experience in ESL or EFL environments
Experience in Intensive English Programs (IEPs) for adults in English-speaking countries (a preference for native speakers and a requirement for non-native speakers)
Strong interest in cross-cultural learning and training
Familiarity with innovative approaches in helping students learn, and willingness to learn and adapt to the "INTERLINK Way" of facilitating learning
Proficiency in computer skills, including Internet, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Access (CALL a plus)
Interest in learning Arabic (knowledge of Arabic a plus)
Candidates with Peace Corps experience, proficiency in another language, publications or work experience in the Middle East will be given preference
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, ranging between $34,000 and $37,000 per annum. The benefit package includes round-trip transportation to and from Saudi Arabia; free furnished housing; medical insurance coverage; paid 45-day annual leave with international transportation; transportation to and from the College; local holidays; annually renewable contract; 5% contract completion bonus; and 5% contract renewal bonus.

Because of the continual growth in the program, faculty recruitment is on-going; however, applicants accepted to the program are expected to report to the College in August and/or January.
