The American Cultural Association of Morocco (
http://aca.org.ma ), a non-governmental, cultural-educational association which has overseen the running of the American Language Centers of Morocco since the mid-1970s, is seeking applicants for the position of Center Director for its Rabat center. This center, which had a Fall enrollment of over 2200 students, is the largest EFL specialist in that city of over 2 million people.
The ideal candidate for this position should have an MA or MS in TESOL, at least four years of international administrative/ supervisory experience, the ability to set and oversee budgets and standard financial data, a communicative level of French and/or Arabic, computer literacy, and a high degree of cultural sensitivity. She or he would also be someone with EFL/ESL classroom experience and the ability to work harmoniously with both native and non-native English speaking staff that numbers more than 40 full- and part-time teachers and over 18 support and admin people. By the statutes under which the ACA operates in Morocco, the candidate must also be a citizen of the United States. In addition, the Moroccan Ministry of Labor will not issue work permits to non-Moroccans over the age of 59.
The ACA offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, a private retirement plan, and medical coverage. A relocation stipend is also available. The current contract is for two years renewable. Ideally, the candidate hired will be expected to relocate by the beginning of October, 2005.
