new watch styles

Hello All-
Just received my new issue of Antiquorum VOX magazine. Though devoted mostly to Rolex and Tudor, they have an article on the development of the PP 3940 starting on pg. 66. Pg. 23-25 show some beautiful classic PP's (yum-yum). Then on pgs.18-19 they show the 'new modern look' of watches from various manufacturers auctioned off at a muscular dystrophy charity event held at the Monaco Yacht Club on Sept., 22, 2005. Personally, for me, of all the 34 watches presented, only one or two caught my eye. I guess it isn't a matter of telling time anymore but who can be the most daring to the point of being ridiculous. Possibly, PP is catering to this crowd now, as is AP and many of the other major brands. The thicker and the larger, the better. There IMO is only so much you can really do in designing a watch before making it so unique that it borders on the absurd. For me personally, I believe we've reached that point. Are the customers catering to the watch companies or are the companies catering to their clients?
