Thomas, I think 99% of the people here, including myself, greatly value this forum and respect you and the rest of the administrative team. However, there is space for criticism within civility. Saying the hands are aweful and the watch is a disaster is no different than saying the dial is beautiful and the watch is a must have. Surely you have seen the latter far more often on this site.
Due to the rarity and incredible costs of many of these watches, many of us will never get a chance to see them "in the metal". Obviously this would be preferable, but surely we as enthusiasts and highly educated consumers can form educated opinions based on pictures. I'll be the first to admit that some watches simply do not photograph that well, but I have never seen a watch that goes from a complete mess to a home run.
No one has made any personal attacks of any kind. I am not claiming the designer is an idiot, for all I know it is the same person responsible for many Pateks I find beautiful, just saying this one did not work. Obviously this is my opinion, but isn't that what forums are all about? Otherwise why allow any responses to "New Model" posts?
I fully realize that this is your site and you make the rules. I do, however, think this is an important and interesting discussion.
In any case, the last thing I mean to do is create work and unpleasantness while you should be busy and enjoying your time in Switzerland. Have a fantastic trip and perhaps we can have a former discussion on what constitutes appropriate criticism when you get back.
