My team was told during a game that the Freak Turbo is banned from asa play. It has the 2004 certified asa stamp and I don't see the bat on the banned asa lists. Does any one know if this bat is really banned or not?

Freak Turbo is Dicks Sporting Goods version of the Freak 98/Miken Viscious.

Miken has an exclusive deal with both Dick's, and Sports Authority to carry a product that is only exclusive to them. Sports Authority has the Miken Burn.

The Turbo is a certified ASA bat and should NOT be banned.

You can verify this by going to the Miken website as well as calling their customer service (ask for Lisa).

It is also on various softball forums.

Hope this helps.

Banned Bat

I was considering this bat for our team and did some research regarding it. It is NOT banned by the ASA (hence the "ASA approved" logo). Also, the bat is a newer edition of the Freak 98 (which was not banned), since it is no longer being made.
