Response to Just my interpretation

Barb. I must thank you for speaking your mind on my behalf. THANK YOU.

It's great that you actually get what I'm doing with this story. My intentions are to show how a strong person can be broken when they're out of the safety zone. Dee Dee is no different when it comes to abuse. She's human, and she can be weak. You're right about how you don't know how a person will respond to abuse, and I wanted to show that. I don't know if I should even try to explain to Anonymous, now that you've done such a great job.

I didn't think about a label warning for my fic. I have seen those at fanfiction.net, but it still didn't dawn on me that I should do that for FRI. Good tip.

Do you think I should use - "AU - for alternate universe" from now on?

Thanks again.

Anonymous. As for the storyline..Dee Dee being the victim. I decided to show how easily it is for a strong person to be torn down when out of their element. Dee Dee McCall was a strong kick-ass cop, but how well does she fair outside of being a cop and having Rick to lean on when she's in trouble?

The idea is, that Dee Dee has never known anything else but being in the security of her first husband Steve and Rick, and that she knows how to take care of herself while being a cop. She had a gun, a badge, and the permission to shoot to kill if needed to protect herself and/or others.

She's always been the strong cop, but how strong is she when she's without her badge? You can take one thing from a person that they see as security...as a part of who they really are, and by destroying one tiny part of that, you can destroy the person too. I'm telling the story of how Dee Dee McCall got "lost" when Dee Dee Turnan stepped in. She doesn't know what to do, since she's never had to be the victim in a case like this. She was raped, kidnapped, shot, etc., but never had to go through having her husband..someone she trusted as much as Steve and Rick to turn on her. What is she supposed to do when she's basically in shock? She knows she was a tough cop, and Alex has taken that and used it to remind her that that's all she was.

In a few episodes, McCall have even said the she wanted to give up being a cop as she wanted more out of life. (Not an exact quote) And, in "The Legion" she talked about how all Andy had was his job, and she didn't want to end up like that. I took notes from her words, and decided that she does realize that she doesn't know anything else but to be a cop, and now she's in a situation like none before. It's something she wanted, but just didn't expect it to be anything like this.

You asked how long she'll have to suffer. I already know the answer to that, but I won't post it yet because there are others that want to read the full story first.

I'm sorry if the story is a turn off for you, and I hope you find one that you really like.

Take care.
