I'm glad you understood that I wasn't criticizing in any way. I would have never guessed that you were new to fic writing.
I really don't mean to harp on the Xfiles - but the fanfic writing community over at The Haven is monster big. They have several professional writers, by that I mean their works outside of Xfiles fanfic has been published. One even got published on his reviews of Xfiles - (I even got to contribute my feelings for research - it was a lot of fun). Anyway - the writers run the gamut - total inexperience/talent to unbelievable works - incredible talent. And they help each other - offering beta services (send your fic to betas, they proofread, offer help, check continuity, grammar, polish, constructive criticism). They're sticklers for labeling, let me tell you. Back when the show aired - if you wrote about a episode that aired in the US, but not overseas yet - you had to say it had spoilers, so people who hadn't seen the ep yet wouldn't have the ep "spoiled" for them when they
did get to see it. They also insist that authors put a disclaimer - "these characters belong to 20th Cent Fox and not mine, not making money off this, yada yada etc.
It's why it's so nice over here - so laid back and comfortable to write for. So many over here are so receptive - it's a heady experience.
Again, you're doing a great job - keep it up
