DVD formats

Yes, there are different "regions" for DVDs and DVD Players. The US is Region 1 and Europe is Region 2.

It is possible, however, to purchase "region free" DVDs, and also "region free" players.

Also, I'm pretty sure that someone with a DVD disc for a particular region would be able to make a copy that would play in other regions. I haven't done that, yet. But, in theory, it should work.
