Q: In the late 1970s or early '80s (I think) there was a show about two young bachelors who moved in together and decided to hire a maid. The maid turned out to be an air-headed but gorgeous blonde by the name of Mickey.
That's all I can remember. But could you tell me the name of the show and when it aired? I would also like to know the names of the actors.
A: See, people who say We Got It Made was just a brainless, shameless rip-off of Three's Company are so wrong. The show could not have been more different. I mean, Three's Company was about a guy living with two women, right? Well, We Got It Made was about a woman living with two men. That's, like, a universe away from Three's Company.
Anyway, We Got It Made ran on NBC in 1983-84. It was about two bachelors with more testosterone than sense, and they were Jay (Tom Villard) and David (Matt McCoy). They needed a maid to clean their apartment because they were such incapable little boys, and they hired Mickey (Teri Copley), who they thought was a guy because of her masculine first name.
Nevertheless, they hired Mickey to keep the place tidy, thus infuriating jealous girlfriends Claudia (a pre-Hunter Stepfanie Kramer) and Beth (a pre-obscurity Bonnie Urseth).
The show's concept was so unique after just one season on NBC, it was revived in 1987 for syndication. In that version, Jay got a new roommate in John (David Tucker), but the complications that followed were as rib-tickling as ever."
