Hi. I thought I'd reply to your Reading vs Watching (or was it Watching vs Reading?) If we continue to talk a lot, you'll find I'm easily confused. LOL! Anyway....

If you see a lot of errors, just keep on over them. It's about 4:45am, and I couldn't sleep, but I'm sleepy. Been there? So, with that combination, there's bound to be some errors. Sorry. Let's begin.

~~~~~~~~Yeah - I do think that's what I'm talking about. Time to absorb it - I hate being "startled", jumped out at. Now, don't get me wrong - I do like to see visually with my eyes - and for some reason, it stays w/ me longer. But I can read something over and over and over - pick it up anytime I want.
For example - watching Hunter episode vs reading a script. If forced to choose, I'd be willing to give up watching it after seeing it only once if I could have the script in my hands. The visual will stay with me and anytime I wanted I could reread the script and go right back to where the ep was - skip what I don't like - heck - even rewrite the script to suit my imagination.
Maybe I'm still not explaining completely - but (insert shrug of shoulders) - I'm probably beating a dead horse by now or putting everyone to
I do hope you truly weathered the storm - we didn't have anything in Texas - thank God it wasn't worse in New Orleans. My prayers go out to all the victims across the gulf states
=======I think I understand pretty well. I don't mind the "jump" you get from the movie, either. Well, sometimes. Hee hee! As for the script and/or watching a show or movie, I think I'd like to compare so I could see if I'd rather read or watch. Some of my least favorite Hunter eps. may be sooo much better in script form. Sometimes the actors just don't seem right for the part, and with reading, you know you can make them just the way you want. I think John Amos is a good actor, but as H&M's captain, he just didn't do it for me. In the script, I'm sure I could have dealt with him better, because he would have been the way I wanted. Make sense?
You mentioned about putting everyone here to Maybe we're not. It reminds me of how Jill and I had long talks about "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Law & Order-SVU". I hadn't even seen L&O-SVU, and now thanks to Jill, I've become a pretty big fan. We had notes here everyday about the shows and other little things to pass the day. After a while, we exchanged email addresses and now we talk about so many more things we have in common. Looks like we're heading in that direction. Months ago, when Rabbit used to post; she, Dawnmei and I got started on some subject here and wound up having IM sessions. Nice to meet good people.
------
Okay, to continue -
~~~~~~~~~~~I get really caught up in a story and don't consciously remember a visual image in my mind = hard to explain - but I'm like "in it" but not really, consciously seeing it = I know, probably made no sense LOL.

======Hmmmm. Let's see if I've gotten any sense out of it, and if you get any from me.
Well, I'm thinking about reading a story, getting really into it, having a strong visual image, but after some time off from reading it, I don't really remember it like I do an actual show. Is that what you're leaning toward? Example = I read Juliann's "A Christmas Story" the other day, and though I've read it several times and remember it well, the "show" was different somehow this time around. There were many scenes that remain the same when I read it, but others are a smidge different. I don't know how or why. Geeez. I'm confusing myself again. How about you?

The Shining - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The original movie was directed by Stanley Kubrick based on SK's book. SK has done other movie scripts, tv scripts, but IMHO needs to stick w/ writing novels and short stories. I know he needs to try new things, fine - but for me - what he excels at is writing novels. Not scripts, etc. Only in stories do you get the full dose of detail and psychological impact.

======I see. Kubrick directed it. Thanks for the info. I haven't read enough or seen enough of SK's work to really be able to say if I'd choose his writing novels and stories over scripts. Maybe someday I'll be able to...with your help and suggestions. Oh, I think can agree that reading does give you the full dose of detail and psychological impact.

Phantoms (moth-like creatures)- I found the book in the library. It's "Phantoms", by Dean Koontz! Is that familiar? If you haven't read it, I think you should give it at least a glance.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm pretty sure I did read that one. There are several but I just can't remember right now. He is good - but, I don't know - I had to prioritize and he kinda fell off my list. Maybe someday, I hope.
======I don't recall reading anything else by Koontz, unless the book I'm trying to find (twins at the institution) is one of them. Maybe after I get through a couple of King books, I might go for another one by him. Hmmm. DK Dean, SK Stephen, and SK Stepfanie. I see you've added "Bad Things" and "The Dawning" to your list. I do hope you enjoy them. One of the twins in "Bad Things" does pretty creepy and disgusting stuff. I might try to find more on both of these authors one day.
Xfiles - ~~~~~~~~~~~~The ep is "Chinga". I'll keep an eye out - TNT is on Season 1 this month, so maybe by Thanksgiving. Chinga is Season 5.
=====Well, when you find out when "Chinga" will air, I hope you can let me know. I'll try to watch it.
~~~~~~~~~~ROTFLMAO - I used to get such a kick out of scaring my little sister.

=====My brother is such a huge man, it doesn't take much for his jumping on the porch to scare me. Hee hee! And, you're a meanie for scaring your sister.
But sometimes being a meanie is fun. I know. I'm the older child too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~This is fun!!! Let's keep it up.
====Yes, it is fun. And tonight I don't think the clicking of my keyboard (not keybord ) is the sound of you coming after me.
Maybe at some point, we can turn some of this and any other discussion into IM's. Feel free to email me too.
Thanks again for your concern during the hurricane.
read that you got the fic idea. Do you think you might be able to work with that? I didn't know Dimphy was so busy with writing. I asked her if she wanted me to work on a fic with her first or what? She hasn't had time to answer I guess. If she doesn't feel left out, then maybe you and I can go ahead with one and I'll write w/ her later.
I'm off to sleep now. Hoping you.....
