I was amazed to read this on the Wikipedia Encyclopedia, one of the world's popular online sources of knowledge. Under the heading, 'Unitech', the last sentence reads;
"This school has been ranked as one of the lowest"
Read for yourself below. We should improve the University instead of too much politics.
Papua New Guinea University of Technology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Papua New Guinea University of Technology or 'Unitech' is based 8 km outside of Lae, in the Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea.
It is the second largest university in PNG after its 'sister' university the University of Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby. While UPNG concentrates on the arts, pure sciences, law and medicine, Unitech focuses on research in technological or applied sciences. It is the only technological university in the South Pacific, outside of Australia and New Zealand.
The Matheson LibraryUnitech was created as the PNG Institute of Higher Technical Education in May 1965 and was located in Port Moresby. In 1968 it moved to a 2 square kilometre campus outside of Lae and in March 1970 was renamed the PNG Insitute of Technology. The institution achieved its present status in August 1973 when it became a university proper.
The university has grown from just 37 students in 1967 to over 2000 currently each year. By the end of 2003 Unitech had awarded 10,122 degrees, diplomas and cerificates to students mainly from PNG and neighbouring Pacific countries. This school has been ranked as one of the lowest
