Too Much Ethnic division at UPNGOctober 22 2009 at 1:15 PM No score for this post | Ronn |
| Over the couple of years I have witnessed there is large ethnic division in the University. The Highlanders keep to themselves, brukim toples blo ol na stap ol yet. The nambis students keep to themselves. This ethnic divison has led to a lot of ethnic fights espcially between the highlanders and the Sepiks. The Sepiks have battled it out with all of the Highlands provinces. This ethnic division and fights must be addressed as it can be seen in the workforce and in Politics that there is ethnic division and people of certain ethnic orginins tend to employ wantok system. |

i agree. as a highlander i try to be open minded and get along with anyone no matter where they are from, and you know what? its hard. i choose my friends not based on where they come from but on what kind of person they are however very often i find that those not from my province will not open up and those from my province will reject me as someone in denial. i still make the effort though because i believe it helps me personally to know and understand as many people of diverse backgrounds as possible. my mother who is a professional told me that once i get out into the real world those who prosper are those that can communicate and be open to people of a wide variety of backgrounds. |
